Review: The MFS: Observatory project is a collaboration between three Italian DJs, but it sounds like it could easily have emanated from Berlin or New York. On the title track, the sound of Big Apple house is prevalent; menacing sirens, looped vocals and a tracky rhythm call to mind the darkest excesses of the city's dance music. It's exactly the kind of track one could imagine Junior Vasquez playing during his prime. By contrast, "Isabella" sees the trio take their inspiration from contemporary minimal house. Although the looped vocal is somewhat reminiscent of Underworld, the track's strength lies in its dense, bleep groove that rolls effortlessly.
