Review: Following in the footsteps of Poker Flat and Intacto, Bedrock becomes the latest label to tap Mihai Popviciu for a release. The Romanian DJ and the scene that he has helped to develop in his home country has received attention worldwide and as this two-track EP demonstrates, it's not hard to understand why. The title track is a relatively simple proposition, but an effective one nonetheless; a vocal sample repeats its title ad infinitum, supported by a niggling acid line, swooshing filters and tight percussion. On "Ok Cool", Popviciu more or less repeats this formula - including a vocal sample and firing hats - but the key difference is the rubbery, booming bass that underpins the arrangement.

Review: With the music coming out these days there's no denying we are all due back in the deep house club soon. Bringing this soundtrack to you is Paul Rudder & Mihai Popoviciu with a streamline of '90s inspired classics. With all tracks touching on that original Chicago sound - and in this case swathes of dub techno chords - this Elements EP sees deep kicks meet star sailing synths ("Juno Mission") next some ultra cruise music in "Lunar Dust". Mihai Popoviciu does a rolling bassline version in his remix, leaving "Dissociation" to throw down the toughest beat of all with a dope rhythm section.

Review: Since first appearing on the label back in 2016, Romanian scene stalwart (and sometime Poker Flat regular) Mihai Popoviciu has made regular returns to Pornbugs' Bondage Music imprint. Even so, 'Echo Audio' marks Popoviciu's first appearance on the label for two years. He starts in confident mood via 'This', a bumping, peak-time ready chunk of energetic deep house marked out by a chunky bassline, sweat-soaked drums and spacey synth sounds, before opting for a more tech-house-meets-deep house flavour on the hypnotic and mind-altering 'Jewel'. Pornbugs remixes 'Only', wrapping tactile synths and dub techno style motifs around a rock-solid groove, while Frink turns 'This' into a deep, dubby and dreamy treat.

Review: While Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu have also contributed to the series, the majority of Bondage Music's 'Deep Value' compilations have been curated by label founder Pornbugs. He's back at the helm on volume seven, a 17-track trawl through the label's back catalogue bundled with a mixed version created by the artist himself. In keeping with the label's output, what's on offer is a great selection of unmixed, DJ-friendly deep tech-house excursions full to bursting with tactile grooves, warming basslines, hypnotic beats and dreamy early morning motifs. Highlights include (but are in no way limited to) the rubbery excellence of 'Quantum' by Frink, the yearning, sunrise-ready shimmer of 'No Fly Zone' by Sarap Ozaydin, and the trippy, sub-heavy brilliance of Arkady Antsyrev's 'Spin'.

Review: It's well known by now that Romanian tech house hero Mihai Popoviciu is a staple of Leipzig-based Bondage Music. A few years ago they released his excellent Home LP (and the great remix package that followed) and finally we get the follow up here. It's titled Azul and features a bunch of typically deep and emotive grooves that are all in his inimitable style. From the hypnotic 'Rominimal' vibe of the title track, to the equally mesmerising and dub-laden groove of "Tristesse" and the trippy minimal funk of "Gazoo" - all-in-all it is perfect tackle for the warm-up or afterhours alike.

Review: It's not giving much away to state that Dessous' latest compilation, a third instalment in their occasional We Like The Deep series, is piled high with house music that combines tried-and-tested dancefloor grooves with melody-rich musical elements that tend towards the warm and atmospheric. Because of this, each and every one of the collection's 11 tracks sound just as good at home as they do on a meaty club soundsystem. Our picks of the multitude of highlights include the hypnotic, locked-in haziness of James Dexter's 'Get To This', the afternoon-fresh jazziness of Mihai Popoviciu's 'Left Hand Thought', the ultra-deep shuffle of 'Soul Alive' by Chocky, and the opaque deep house soul of Langenberg's Blakkat hook-up, 'Shadows'.
