Review: The work of two producers - Nicolas Molio and Choukry Chamsa - Chic Flowerz both compile and contribute heavily to this latest collection of fresh and very large house and electro. Though the title may suggest a demure vibe, there's actually some real mainroom fire and energy within these thirty tracks, with some especially sweaty numbers such as Basto's remix of the evergreen "Gypsy Woman", CC Birdy Mind's sweet-as-sugar "You" and Chic Flowerz own signature version of "Lady Marmalade".

Review: Psylence's culinary themed label Ingredients comes up with a brand new concept for their "best of" compilation, which brings together the highlights from the label's success to date and packages them as the "Choice Cuts". Lo and behold there are such tasty morsels as Sato's dark, glistering bassline roller "Detroit Lies Bleeding", the insatiable snapping snares of "Clean Break" and fidgety finesse of "Voyager (feat. Baron Von Alias)" - both by Phobia - and the moody intrigue of Jubei's "The Path". It's a fine selection of tunes, which points to the fact that Ingredients is a very promising label indeed. Watch this space.

Review: The second release from the Mancunian D&B producer follows swiftly on from his debut 12" Stats/Riley on Ingredients UK earlier this year. Having caught the eye of such luminaries as D Bridge, Instra:mental, Loxy and Doc Scott, and tipped as a one to watch by ASC, it's fair to say that the future looks bright for Mode. "Warning" takes us deep into dark, dusky territory with squelchy, bellowing bass and an unnerving crackling breaking up the proceedings from time to time. "Realities", with its detached echoing vocal sample, takes us yet further down the rabbit hole. Beautifully composed, Mode makes as much use of space as he does of sound, providing a fresh and innovative take on the 170bpm genre.

Review: Bronski and Critical Event's Mode:Funktion project returns to Soul Deep with another rich collection of deep D&B. "Those Sunday Blues" kicks off with a Jazzstick feel - all hazy and smoky in the vibe department. "Beautiful Life" is an instant uplift with major chords rising into the clouds but anchored by stately subs. "Overthinking" flips for a more introspective twist where the clouds turn to sober jazzy mists. Finally "Fly Girl" lays down the 411. Woozy soul, vocal touches and keys and horns so delicate you need gloves to handle them. Superb.
