Review: What a treat we find ourselves indulging in here as the wonderful Mofaux links up with the super consistent Four40 team for a two track slap. For this one, we begin with the haunted, bell-like tones across the introduction of the title track 'Roll Through', which lead us towards a party-ready breakdown, jam packed with fun synthesizer runs and colourful percussive inclusions. On the flip, we dive into something a tad more hardcore as 'Back It Up' unleashes some delicious distortion among groovy

Review: The Southpoint unit have had yet another sparkling year, with their sound constantly evolving at the forefront of UK bass music's ever expanding boundaries and parameters. This year they have taken it to the next level, with the seventh edition of their 'Southpoint Presents' series launching across all platforms, including bangers from the likes of KXVU, Jakebob, Bushbaby, Muttley, Moony, Mofaux, Dunman, Drax, Movement, Tengu and more. We also see Presents debuts for the likes of MPH, On1, Negativ and Daffy, arguably rendering their strongest compilation in the series.

Review: A south coast favourite returns to Hot Cakes here as Mofaux gets to work on a brand new EP after impressive releases alongside the likes of Southpoint and UWotBludd. This EP is comprised of three highly original designs, the first of which is entitled 'The Purge', an ode to the current wave of bassline styles packed with lethal bass patterns and crispy drum selection. Next up 'The Fear', an explosive piece of creative composition, energised by unpredictable beat stops and subtle funky percussive stabs. Finally we finish up on 'Jumanji', a straight UK Funky heater, packed to the brim with rhythmic prowess and featuring an impressive vocal appearance from Hackney's own hot shot: Razor.

Review: As a label, Yosh has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, bringing together some of the bass scenes most exciting artists on both compilations and single releases. Here they team up with the wise owls of Tengu to put together a powerhouse tracklisting, bringing in a host of new faces such as KXVU, Movement, Pavv, J69 and. R3DX, as well as bringing back some of their favourite regulars. For us the stand outs have to include Kyle Riot's emotive bass belter in 'Through My Eyes' which combines electronically processed vocal stabs with shimmering bass textures. Another highlight would have to be Mofaux's 'Soldier' composition, which combines skippy drum rhythms with a grinding LFO and more catchy vocal stabs. Excellent stuff.

Review: Rising stars of Southpoint and U Wot Blud respectively, the Tengu boys and Mofaux are a powerhouse bassline duo you can truly set your watch by. Going head-to-head, solo and remixing each other on this massive Southpoint EP, "Jinzo" is a bubbling cauldron of ideas and signature sonics. The lead track is a straight 4x4 groaner that chugs with a cool slo-mo restraint around 125, while Tengu and Duke join the grime dots with "Parasite" and Mofaux gets his best seasick bass out for the wobbled-out slapper "Nike Airs". Elsewhere Mofaux flips "Parasite" into a twisted 22nd century garage roller while Tengu adds the nastiest alien bass possible to "Nike Airs". And if that's not enough Habouchi's joined in for the final leg of the party with an absurd grit-jacking remix of "Jinzo". Massive.

Review: It feels like Mofaux has all the right ingredients to become a true household name for U Wot Blud, but also to satisfy the needs of any curious bass wonderer circling our charts. "Do What U Want" is a monstrous slice of hyper-space bass backed by an equally interstellar fusion of hybrid house beats, while "Monster Bass" itself drops a load of low frequencies in quick succession that sound suspiciously like tech-house to us, but the real treat comes through the wavy, grime-ridden tonalities of "Serious", a truly UK kind of banger that dips and dives out of bass lines like its 2003.

Review: U Wot Blud? Is the UK's most forward-thinking bass label, and when they decide to celebrate something, they don't mess about. The occasion in particular here is the label's 25th release, and to mark it they have prepared this 52(!) track compilation. It's a flippin' rollercoaster ride of bass shenanigans, with some of the many highlights including the trancey, leftfield trap of "Hater" by Wizard, the neon-flecked bass pulses of "Blackmail VIP" by Aliii and the techy-disco fizz of "Nonsense Skank" by 94 Bliss. Best take a month off and get totally lost in this jungle of bass gems.

Review: We're assuming that Brighton's Mofaux knows the actual definition of the term and doesn't think its clever-but-hard name. If it's the former then he's got a good sense of humour, something he can afford to have because his tunes are actually pretty badass indeed. "No Sun" is a swingy slice of tough and bleepy 4 x 4, whilst "Workout" opts for a more rolling hip-house vibe. However it's closer "Hoodwinked" that's the real showstopper here - moody piano stabs, frenzied drops and funky cowbell-led grooves. Sizzling stuff!
