Review: Boite Music up once again with a new selection of tracks featuring some cosmic funk and heavy beat down percussion disco from Molinar - next to Rayko's psychedelic, electro, P-funk and industrial banger, "Mezcal Punch". Spain's Ivan Fabra - known for records on Internasjonal and Codek - adds a touch of instrumental house to this EP via "Evolving Pads" with MI.RO getting a little post-punk, funk and dubby in "The Hero Is You". Review: Spa In Disco bring us a nu-disco collection that dares to push the envelope a little - many of the tracks here will work just as well on deep, progressive and even tech-house floors as they will in straight-up nu-disco sets. Tony Disco's big 'n' beefy 'Pistolero', for instance, should go down a storm pretty much wherever shapes are thrown to stomping beats and hefty basslines, while LaFrench Toast's 'Spaceball' wouldn't sound out of place on 3am Recordings, Downunder Disco's 'Way Up High' is a dreamy, space-y post-club classic in waiting and Molinaar's 'Cruus' could even slot into more uptempo minimal techno sets. A pleasingly varied, highly enjoyable compilation.

Review: It's been a while since we last heard from Adrian Molinar, a Mexican DJ/producer who impressed with a fine 2015 debut on Tom Tom Disco. In fact, our research that this is Molinar's first single for at least three years. "Cymatic" is deliciously psychedelic and mind-altering, with Molinar wrapping ragged and undulating TB-303 style acid lines around a driving electronic groove that sits somewhere between jacking house and fizzing nu-disco. James Rod takes the track in an entirely different direction on his accompanying remix, which peppers Molinar's thrusting groove with flash-fried funk guitars and punchy, 8-bit electronics. The EP also contains a stab-happy revision by Pato Watson that's rich in the kind of razor-sharp riffs that we've always associated with "Brown Album"-era Orbital.
