Review: Headman's Relish label bring us the latest in their series of label compilations, with this one gathering together 10 tracks that were originally released over the past half-decade or so. Relish are 20 years old this year, so you should have a pretty good idea what to expect already: indie-dance and synth-led nu-disco with an experimental/leftfield edge have long been the label's stock-in-trade, and so it is here. Justine Forever's idiosyncratic cover of Siouxsie & The Banshees' 'Happy House' and the Cure-ish guitars on Mondowski's 'Surfin' Hell' evidence a slightly goth-y edge, too, but the standout for yours truly is Red Axes' remix of Gina X's 'No G.D.M' - think ESG meet The B-52s.

Review: London based French producer Mondowski follows a spate of recent releases on Relish and Ombra with a new club-orientated vision for London label and clubnight SC&P. Following his remix services on label's debut and 4th releases, Mondowski makes his full label debut with an electro inspired turn. Dancefloor orientated lead track Sholay finds a mesmerizing path somewhere between extroverted 80's electro and celebratory spiritual transcendence and gets the remix treatment from Pinkman's Kris Baha who subverts the original by turning the electro backbone up to 11. Negative Space voyages into darker electro territories with Kraftwerkesque synths, rolling pads and a motorik bassline, all of which provides the launchpad for Multiple Man to turn out a pitch black EBM banger.

Review: This is Mondowski's second appearance on Robi Insinna's Relish label, and it appears that he is fitting in well with the in-house sound. The title track is percolating disco juggernaut, shimmering with percolating electronics and arpeggiations. It is remixed by Joe Spurgeon and turned into a pared back widescreen epic. "Black Age' is even cooler though - all gothy EBM grooves and loops that are given a stark dressing down courtesy of the legendary techno hero The Hacker. Moody beats are here!
