The latest release from Audaz is not a collection of sneaky re-edits, but rather a delicious chunk of original nu-disco/deep house fusion from Deep & Disco Recordings alumnus Monsoon Season. Featuring the evocative vocals of Evelyn Joyce, the original version of "Time Behind" should appeal to fans of Crazy P, as it explores similar good-time musical territory. The remix package is strong, too, with label boss Alkalino delivering a rolling, Rhodes-heavy deep house interpretation that wraps Joyce's excellent vocal in winding synth-strings and ear-catching clavinet lines. Elsewhere, the Linntronix Mix is similarly deep but a little more synthesizer-heavy, while Martin Virgin explores jaunty nu-disco and extended breakdowns on his 'Lite Retouch'.
Founded in 2011 by producer Jkriv, Brooklyn's Deep & Disco Recordings aims to provide an outlet for all that modern disco, soul and funk that's getting made right now. This single, their latest release, is a slice of super-mellow and laid back Balearic funk awash with the breathy vocals of Miss Bee. Accompanying the original is a complete spectrum of remixes the best of which include the piano-stabbin' Studio 54isms of the Moon Boots mix, and the Miami Vice synth paradise of the Arsenii alternate mix.
Following a recent single on Deep & Disco, Monsoon Season are back, again with vocalist Miss Bee, on Glam Jam. Back too is their glacial, shimmering Balearic sound, with "Too Cold For Love" being a long and bouncey electro-house roller - a track that Manolo toughens up a little and drenches in beautifully sweet synths. Finally, Satin Jackets slow things right down for a dream-like synth odyssey that makes the listener dream of palm trees and blue skies.
