Review: Montel returns to Bedrock with killer tunes: "Shadows" and "First Light". As the artist himself has stated "I'm not looking to re-invent the musical wheel, it's all been done before. Review: UK based producer Montel is back, following up some great releases on Kody & Leftwing's Lost, John Digweed's Bedrock as well as Leena. This time for the always reliable Stereo Productions out of Spain with "Get Loose"; a funky, disco-infused tech house jam that goes for the same groove as ViVA's Steve Lawler has of late. Using some sick 303 acid for the bass and those timeless "Let No Man Put Asunder" samples atop: this is a surefire dancefloor bomb! On "Do Your Dance" he goes for more of an NYC basement vibe on this tough and stomping exercise for the peak time, with more diva vocal samples and gutsy techno style stabs.

Review: Ever the perceptive A&R man Jon Digweed signed some Montel tracks to Bedrock's Re:Structured compilation last year. Now he has given him a full release as a platform to flex his creative muscles. He doesn't disappoint. The title track centres on tough kicks, intense filtering and a repetitive 'go' vocal sample. Factor in some doubled up claps and "Semper" is one of the most techno-oriented records in Bedrock's catalogue. "He's Not There" continues in a similar vein; this time it's all about the predatory bass and the rolling snares that sound like Kevin Saunderson's Reese project getting it on with Hardfloor.

Review: Ah the humble double pack, isn't there something so very satisfying about this format? Sccucci Manucci evidently thinks so as The Nine Bows EP is the label's second release in succession to embrace the double pack. It's another high profile cast that contribute to the eight tracks here, with Montel, Mikki Funk, Jackson Ryland and Aashton all featuring. It's the latter, Brighton-based producer who opens proceedings with "I Can't Shake It", a summer house anthem in the making that showcases his love of a classic RnB vocal. Maverick follows with "Wait For U" which is not only his Sccucci debut but also the Parisian's first production committed to wax - hard to believe! The mood swings through various shades of house from here with "Lemme Hold U" from Montel a mid point highlight thanks to a killer vocal hook.
