Review: Mousse T's perennially popular German house label are containing their current compilation release frenzy with this new installment in the series that explores the deeper end of their tastes. Or, to be more specific, the tastes of Deepwerk who selects the album's pleasingly diverse tracklist. It's quite a journey, taking in stoned jazz-hop "Cosmic Surfin", the sublime deep house synth-fest of "Burn Baby Burn", soulful G-Funk (Warren G's "I Need A Light") and even Roachford, who returns from Alan Partridge-aided exile with "Work It Out".
Review: Mousse T is man who likes his grub, he even calls his albums things like Gourmet De Funk, and here's his record label's latest culinary themed compilation for our aural palette. Dubbed 'Menue Two", this long player takes in a wide number of styles and tempos and makes it all work in that typical Mousse T way. It's quite a mouth (or ear?) full, taking in loungey jazz ("De La Bass"), soulful pop-rock ("Rock You"), bloc-rockin' electro-funk ("Coffee Break") and even handbaggy house (T's own remix of "You Came My Way"). Go get yourself a bellyful.
Autodeep - "Set Me Free" (Martin Hayes remix) - (6:40) 50 BPM
Review: Mousse T's Peppermint Jam remind us of their wide house music remit and endless repertoire with this far-ranging collection from friends old and new. Sweeping from the glue-like sludginess of Adultnapper's remix of Mousse T's "Sex Has Gone" to the deep dubby filtered swing of Martin Buttrich's remix of Matty Heilbronn's Jungle Brothers-sampling "Funky Shit" via Martin Hayes' slo-mo electro boogie rub of Autodeep's "Set Me Free", it's the German label at their most extensive and discerning. A must for all lovers of house and electronica.
