Review: Mr Cloudy, AKA dub techno, ambient and drone explorer Sergey Barkalov, has the air of an outsider. Hailing from Russia, he lives on the fringes of Vladimir Putin's creeping empire and cultivates a mysterious persona online. Musically, his vision of electronic music feels distant and unearthly, too. Perceived, which is his first full-length since 2012, offers six long, drawn-out experiments on a theme, with becalmed but occasionally uneasy chord repetitions - drenched in delay and backwards sounds - the foundation of epic ambient soundscapes and dubwise drone pieces. Perceived, then, is pretty out-there, but entertaining, too; despite the minimalist approach, there's plenty of gentle, unobtrusive positivity.
