Review: Original Key are back and true to form they've come out with something huge, courtesy of Mr Explicit who, with Blind Reality, has made an EP that's quite special. The aesthetic here isn't new school jump up but old school, rough and tumble tech which bounces and flows in a manner that's both contradictory yet complimentary to its heaviness. The title tune has crashing breaks, pulsing basses and eerie samples, a triage of attack that results in a fearsome dancefloor instrument. 'Watch This' is the other highlight, a punishing roller with a superbly crisp set of drums and a soaring, no holds barred bassline that is packed full of little switch ups and small details. Unreal.

Review: Liondub International's 10 year celebrations continue with a sense-shocking body slam into the future of the label and its ever-growing family of talented artists. Hitting hard like the label's ever-on-point Street Series, the rollcall reads like a who's who in gully talent: Dutta, Bou, Jayline, Vital, BlckHry and loads more. Whether you want to be completely twisted and spat back out by a brass section (Pharoah's "Fire In The Hole") you'd prefer to be hoovered by a jet engine then shot up into the stars (Jayline's "1408") or you're more into the idea of being rattled around in a big tin bassline can (Danny The WildChild's "Body Moves") this future shock has every physical experience contemporary (but heavily rooted) drum & bass can offer. And there's even more to come. Big up Liondub!

Review: Liondub are celebrating a decade of existence and they're doing a three-part compilation series covering the past, present and future of the label. By definition, then, these series' feature plenty of talent from all across the spectrum and time period of the genre. One of our favourite of the 26 cuts is Bou's VIP of Keep Away, a deliciously double-bass infused number that is both funky and heavy, the ideal combination, and he's flipped up the arrangement here with some precisely placed note changes. There are also features from Vital, Euphonique, Dutta, Marcus Visionary and more, with the overall vibe being one of toughness and power. Top stuff.

Review: Lion Dub have reached a decade of activity. A decade! To put it in perspective, if someone was born the year Liondub started, they're about to enter high school/secondary school. It's a crazy achievement and one matched by the craziness of the music they have on offer to celebrate, a four-part journey through their past, present and future. This instalment is all about their past and it's exemplified best by Serum's VIP of Sound The Alarm, a Liondub classic, which Serum has flipped into a characteristically badboy, stabbing little roller. The vocals float above in a haze of reggae smoke, whilst the beat pulsates below. Awesome stuff.

Review: LionDub's Street Series has to be one of the most on point and consistent V/A EP series in recent D&B times. Every collection comes from a genuinely exciting name in the modern game, they're loaded with shades and stank and roll and slap in equal measure. Now hot on the heels of DJ Hybrid and RMS (among many others) comes Dread affiliate Mr Explicit with five more potty mouth party pieces; "Dub Lion" actually roars, "Iron Maiden" has a bassline that does actually sound like heavy metal... Actual metal, though. Being melted at over 1000 degrees. Elsewhere "The Mash" steps and sizzles with a cheeky nod to Virus while "Warfare" drones ominously like the sky is falling under a nuclear cloud. "Who's Laughing" closes yet another excellent street session with true dark style theatre.

Review: You shoot, you score... Weapons Of Choice look back over the last two years of killer rollers and thumpers and recruit a rollcall of hurter-mongers for some updates. The seemingly ubiquitous Bou returns with a savage shakedown of Saxxon's "Weapons", L Side flips Simplification's "Awesome Days" into a crazy amen munching sea serpent, Redeyes adds some dreamy charm to Dave Owen's "Twin Stars" while Jayline gives Mr Explicit's "Funk Ya System" an absolute foghorning. Full El Dude Brothers business, this has the power of at least 100 truckers all learning on the horn at once. Shots fired!

Review: More X-rated firepower from bass solider Mr Explicit. Kicking off where his last EP "Emerald Light" left us on Asbo, once again it's a dank, heads-down unapologetic roller-festival: "Suburban Affair" lights the fire with arsonist glee; an absolute bonfire of a banger that charges at 200mph into oblivion, it's Mr Explicit at his most potty-mouthed. Venom joins the swear party for the hurricane drones and blistering breaks on "Point Blank" while Asbo regular Rassterlin taps in for the last more soulful introspective hoorah. Feel the love.

Repping the full circle and full family of artists, the album flexes from the deep dream synth breathing of Basic Forces to the heavier, party-shredding styles Skinley via the lean, steppy punctuation of DJ Westy and the bare moods of Mr Explicit and beyond. Review: Denver label Plush Recordings proudly present a decidedly plump retrospective of their output from the past two years. Across the count'em 36 tracks some familiar names are naturally present displaying the various slants on the Plush output - be it gloriously liquid funk or half step hip hop embellishments to more atmospheric strands of the drum and bass. Commencing in style with the jazzy textures of Contract Killers, the subsequent and exhaustive selection contains highlights almost too numerous to pick out and thus our best advice is to let you dig in and find your own favourites!
