Review: There's no doubt that Danny Krivit is the best in the business when it comes to crafting purist re-edits that focus on rearrangement rather than cheap production trickery. This two-tracker on hometown imprint Razor 'N' Tape offers further proof of the veteran scalpel fiend's undoubted abilities. He first turns his attention to a starry, space-age disco number with jazz-funk influences, brilliantly teasing in the song via sax-heavy loops before unleashing the song's verses, choruses and punchy, horn-heavy grooves. It's nine-minutes of top-quality deep disco bliss. In contrast, 'Story' is ultra-deep, slow and immersive, with "Mr K" making merry with a super-sweet, string-laden number full of Philly Soul style orchestration, eyes-closed backing vocals and sumptuous disco grooves. Delicious!

Review: Last seen flexing on the likes of DUPLOC, White Peach and Version Collective, Mr K's credentials speak for themselves. As do his precision murk-raking, infectious compositions. Take "Fidget", a stripped back wriggler that recalls the days of FWD with its sleazy bass bends and toxic addictive hook. Elsewhere we hit the pensive sunrise walk through the loneliest of graveyards that is "No Air", we're submitted into the abyss with the purring spatial dynamics of "Focus" before closing out with a little mystic science and rudimental dub aesthetics on "Where I". A serious label debut; we reckon we'll be seeing more of Mr K on Truth's triple D imprint very very soon...

Review: As far as labels go, there aren't many that can boast such a productive year as Zha's 'White Peach' imprint. Throughout the year they have worked tirelessly to provide us with forward thinking dubstep and grime from both established high flyers and blossoming newcomers. They round their year off with this fantastic selection from London's own dubstep don: Mr. K. The title track 'One Skin' is a powerhouse dubby roller, equipped with perfectly timed delays and unpredictable syncopated percussion. We roll straight from that into the monstrous sub-driven march of 'Take Time'. On the B Side we have two more absolute belters by way of the more wonky sounds the sit upon 'Real Time' featuring Le Lion and mega weighty arrangement of 'Inca'. This one screams instant classic.

Review: What a year it's been for US deep bass imprint Version Collective. Exactly a year ago their inaugural Certified Organic collection lit a raging fire of smouldering singles and, most recently, a remarkable album by Sweepa. Now comes the sequel... Once again it's a far-ranging exploration that takes in some truly unique perspectives with highlights such as the discordant metallic strings of Lilti's remix of "Womple", the delicious didgeridoo-style bass weirdness of Basiclee's "Voyage Dub", the gully croaks and slaps of Drew's Theory's defiant "Nonsense & Knowledge" and the industrial strength drum textures and springy sub of Mr K's "Damage". Another serious statement of intent and showcase of exciting, forward-thinking dub talent, Version Collective are staring down the barrel of another exciting sonically innovative year.
