Review: MTV is a studio alias of respected Japanese techno DJ Nobu and fellow countryman NHK yx Koyxen. Hollywood #1 EP is their first record under this pseudonym and it makes for an impressive debut. "Snow Ball" is a glitchy, oddball house affair, while on "Smart Ball", the pair up the ante to deliver a pacey minimal house workout that inhabits the same sonic field as Gez Varley's G-Man releases. The drawn out, slow motion ebm of "Smooth Motion" marks a return to their experimental approach, while on "Look Back Motion" they again embrace minimalism, only this time the focus is on stomping, more abrasive rhythms.
