Review: Get your teacups out! Midlands rave OG Mugshot gets busy on Tyke's Holographic with four steaming filth-flingers. Each one stripped back to the bare essentials and laced with tension and plenty of grit in the grooves, vibes range from the sizzling futurism and stern tones of the title track 'Stoopid Filth' to the pneumatic industrial strength sludge of the aptly titled 'Darkness' by way slippery wriggling slugs like 'Winter Of Diss' and all-out tear-up treats like 'Over Turn'. Nothing stoopid at all about this collection. Fill your jugs.

Review: A treasure trove for the true drum and bass / jungle head, the Formation label sends in a second wide load of 170BPM+ steppers and bangers in a follow up to their Back To Jungle compilation series. Highlights straight off the bat include numbers from Dan Blackout and DJ Andy, with something seriously frenetic coming out of Mogshot's "Jungle Volunteer Force". For your stripped back rhythm tracks One Dread has you covered, with the likes of Slaine offering up a subtle dose of rave (all the more) with junglisms pushed to the max in Aries & Haslem's knees up special "Just Break". A wild compilation of maxed out jungle prominence.

Review: This five-tracker from long-time producer Mugshot is impressive in that it manages to do a lot with quite little. Its core components - rolling drums, wobbly basslines - aren't exactly new to anyone, but it's the basics of arrangement that give it such an infectious, catchy edge, and which make all of these tracks so memorable. 'Sez Who?' gets things out the stocks quickly, with tumbling breaks on the intro that juxtapose the paciness of its main percussive line, and these drums underpin a ferocious set of low frequency oscillations. 'Mugshot', featuring Sikka, is the big standout, as a choppy arrangement blasts its way along with serious swagger, a weighty number that's dying to be thrown into the mix. Sick EP.
