Review: Take it back to the mid-20-teens and Newcastle Upon Tyne's Man Power, aka Geoff Kirkwood, was only just getting out of bed. With early releases on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondent and later John Talabot's Hivern Discs, Man Power has taken it all the way through ESP Institute, Optimo Trax and Throne Of Blood to Skint, DFA and of course the project's home label, Me Me Me. With a spotlight over three years of remix work that sees Me Me Me lift a selection of remixes made over Bryan Ferry to Daniele Baldelli & DJ Rocca, Man Power takes it back to the roots with a rework of Woolf vs Projections and Tronik Youth! With the heaviness of Man Power's remix to Ess O Ess a highlight too, expect a touch of acid, EBM, Italo and kosmische inspirations woven in and around bustling drum machines, analog synths and plenty of Man Power.

Tel Aviv Flavours
Niv Ast - "Rainey Heart" - (6:00) 114 BPM Hot
Rina - "Peppermint Bouquet" - (6:44) 117 BPM
Naduve - "Hex Mex" - (5:11) 87 BPM
Middle Sky Boom - "Marbel Arch" - (7:05) 104 BPM
Review: If this EP is to be believed then the sound of Tel Aviv is all about ultra-deep house and moody, leftfield electronica. Niv Ast's 'Rainey Heart' is a slow-building affair that wouldn't sound out place early doors in a Cattaneo or Digweed set with its complex, evolving percussion and low, constant synth drone. Rina's 'Peppermint Bouquet' is a deep tribal jam with a trippy, hazy feel, while Naduve's 'Hex Mex' is a slo-mo number that rides a lumbering rhythm with snatches of Arabic speech, birdsong and other off-the-wall sounds. Completing the EP is 'Marbel Arch' [sic] from Middle Sky Boom, another slow-moving, atmospheric chugger.

Back To Work EP
Back To Work - (5:38) 115 BPM
Pakana Tana - (8:16) 120 BPM Hot
Ze Hazman - (6:00) 120 BPM
Back To Work (Xen Revox) - (5:42) 115 BPM
Review: Tel Aviv producer Naduve rose to prominence a couple of years back via fine releases on Disco Halal, Multi-Culti, Rothmans and CockTail d'Amore Music, but has been strangely silent since. Thankfully this belated trip "Back To Work" (sorry) proves he's not lost any of his edge. The title track, for example, is a near perfect fusion of exotic, out-there synthesizer work, off-kilter drum machine rhythms and undeniably foreboding synth-bass, while "Pekana Taka" sees him pepper a chugging, hypnotic groove with fluttering synthesizer lines and dreamy, otherworldly chords. There's a slightly rockier feel to the exotic psych-chug of "Ze Hazman", which sounds like a genuine dancefloor winner, while the Xen Revox of "Back To Work" successfully throws alluringly dreamy female vocals and pulsating grooves into the mix.

Review: Von Party is back on his Multi Culti imprint and, as always, this guy means business. But, unlike his previous techno releases for the likes of Turbo Recordings or Convex Industries, this time he's on a balearic tip. There's four mixes of "Cobra Rush" here, but it's the original mix by Von Party himself that gets our attention thanks to its slow-building waves of phased-out funk. The remixes aren't exactly without their merits either, though, with Rodion offering a warm, dubby house version. Peter Power reinterpreting the tune through a more tribalistic lens, and Sabo offers a more classic deep house sound to sooth the DJs.
