Review: How many long-running compilation series are still going in this day and age? Ok, well respected ones then. Sean Brosnan's Future Disco series has always delivered the goods and can always be used as a benchmark for where the nu-disco world is at any one time. This time, it's (perhaps unsurprisingly) all about the vintage house vibes so not so disco then, but still a thrilling listen. Highlights include the slinky DJ T-esque "You're The One", the ever-brilliant DJ Koze's remix of hot newcomers Mount Kimble and the deeply enchanting Axel Boman remix of "Naughty".

Review: In the space of two years Wurst Music has emerged as a label with a blossoming reputation - one that should be considered as much a part of New York's musical landscape as DFA, Environ or Slow To Speak. To showcase the label's credentials, Roy Dank has put together The Wurst Music Ever, a cheekily titled collection of previously unreleased cuts from label stalwarts, new signings and like-minded friends. With 10 tracks covering every aspect of the label's musical approach - vaguely Balearic nu-disco, underground NYC house, disco revivalism and heavy electronic grooves all feature - it's a thrilling snapshot of where the label is at right now Highlights are naturally plentiful. Newcomers Pink Stallone impress with "Help Yourself", a low-end heavy chunk of slo-mo contemporary P-funk that's dirtier than a night in with Prince and a bevy of bikini-clad beauties. Hometown heroes Midnight Magic provide a stunning cover of Native Underground's "Push 4 Love" that recasts the freestyle-tinged original as a loose, dubwise disco gem. Tiago channels the ghost of Patrick Cowley on the Munich Machine-aping "Peanuts", whilst Soho 808 (another promising newcomer) and Great Weekend throw down future house anthems. If The Wurst Music Ever is an indication of what we can expect in the future from Dank's label, it seems the Best of the Wurst is yet to come.

Review: Those who keep an eye on the more discerning end of the disco spectrum will know the Stockholm trio Name In Lights for their fine work on the FEED imprint, as well as gracing the good ship Wurst with a remix of Nick Chacona late last year. The latter should act as a beacon of taste, as does this full release for the always solid Under The Shade label which should see the trio gain wider appreciation. There's an undeniable quality to the deftness that lead track "Disco Touchdown" switches from the opening chunky disco groove into an even more substantial house bump replete with an all encompassing piano hook. Dr Dunks arrives next on remix duties and retains the originals' conceptual switch, growing from glistening dubby disco into something wholly more euphoric once the rising arpeggio pulse pushes its way to the fore. Up next, "Touch The Sky (E Track)" is a leaner groove, filled with expansive melodic touches that suddenly burst into a loose disco jaunt with a delightful vocal hook. Brooklynite Eddie Mars adds some nice electronic bass bounce to the track on a nicely paced cosmic shuffler of a remix.
