Review: Following on from last year's Dear Diary release on Lobster Theremin, Nicolas Schmidt aka Narciss returns to the 10 Pills Mate sub-label for more old school influenced techno. "Feather Boa Constrictor" resounds to a repetitive electronic hook and a lean, driving rhythm, while on "Lovechild (Outrun Mix)", Schmidt goes down a deeper route, with insistent chord stabs and soulful vocal samples looped over a looped groove. "Tokyo" sees another change in tact, with Schmidt going deeper; based on tight metallic percussion and a rolling rhythm, he weaves in soulful vocals and atmospheric synths, making for a soulful combination. It stands in stark contrast to "Dreamcast (Repro's EP Remix)", where Narciss takes up the trance mantle, making for a fast paced, pulsating finale to the release.

Review: Nicolas Schmidt aka Narciss follows his 2020 debut on Lobster Theremin with this emotive EP. "Ludmilla" is a rolling affair that features dreamy synth melodies. While the mood is similarly upbeat on "Tall People", Schmidt ups the tempo to deliver a breezy techno groove that is sure to garner attention across the spectrum. "It Gets Easier" reveals a somewhat moodier side to this upcoming producer's sound, with his signature melodies fused with rolling break beats and an ominous low end. "Blicke" marks a return to his usual form, as epic chord builds are fused with a high-paced, rolling rhythm - a seamless blend of emotion and function.

Review: Listening to Narciss' debut release for Lobster Theremin, it feels like the wave of 90s trance never happened. The German producer starts the release with "Diable Jambe", which comes across as a tough ebm-flavoured take on Harthouse material. "Sundowner (Body 2 Body Mix)", with its melodramatic melodic flourishes, sees Narciss opt for a more mainstream take on trance, while on "Detroit Smash" he delivers his own flawless interpretation of the grey area where the form coexisted with techno, thanks to the use of dramatic chord builds. Rounding off this distinctive EP is the acid-frazzled " Fragments Of A Language Of Love". which comes across as a slightly more benign take on Emmanuel Top's sound.
