Review: We were super excited to see this brand new Tasty Swagger compilation and we can safely say after listening through we weren't disappointed. In total it boasts 8 heavyweight creations, spanning the full breadth of UK 4x4. For us the immediate standouts have to include the subtle bassline rolls of DJ Direct's "Skeng", the Jackin house inspired rhythms of "Lowbrid" from HP Source and of course Pelikkan's crunchy overhaul of "Damage" originally by Negativ. There's something for everyone within this selection.

Review: It's safe to say that Negativ had a very impactful 2017, dishing up tasty releases on notable labels such as 877 and Southpoint. Now he is back under the Broken Music Syndicate banner with a firestorm of a track entitled "Enigma". This one encompasses everything we love about the Negativ sound, with it's growling bass synthesis, beautifully layered melodics and crunchy drum arrangements to match. If this is how the duo intend to go on, 2018 is going to be a huge year for Negativ.

Review: Negativ are two Polish producers currently based in Warsaw and London. Originating from completely different musical backgrounds, they joined their forces in 2012 and have been steadily working on new material since then. The release consists of two originals including a collaboration with the legend Dread Mc coming out on UK bass imprint 877. "Break It Down" channels the heyday of early noughties n-skool breaks with its minimal broken beats and funky sub bass snarl that alternates with a razor sharp arpeggio for dramatic effect. Second offering "Killa" is much more evocative and atmospheric: this one is where they really shine and the breaks on this one are reminiscent of early rave until it takes a bold u-urn and introduces more electro style rhythms accompanied by dark [pads and addictive synth textures. Keep your eyes on these guys as they're onto big things!

Review: Before delivering the promised 'arsenal of dutty new tunes for all you functioning bass addicts' next year, fledging bass label Saucy round up this one with a selection of all their best stuff from their sophomore year. There are a whopping 24 tracks to get your teeth into, highlights of which include the insanely catchy moody pop of opener "Summer Rain" by Inkline, the slamming garage/house of "Don't Stop (Jack Swaffer remix)" by Mike Jones and the eccentric beats and creeped out sounds of the "House Of Haunted Horrors" by Spooky and Spekktrum. What a label, what a year!

Review: For all those of you out there who had lost faith in ever hearing another instalment in the Saucy Selections series...rejoice! The wait is over. It's over a year since Vol 2, but the Saucy crew are back bringing serious fiyah over 22 fresh new jams. As usual, the quality is never compromised, particularly on such standouts as the mercilessly pounding, RnB sampling "You Better Know" by Libra, the futuristic 2-step synth stabs of "Eyes On You" by Jello and the dry warehouse beats and buzzy bass bounce of "People Dem Dance" by Lucent & Karl Vincent.

Review: It's been way too long since we've heard from Polish duo Negativ. Thankfully they're back with a full force EP on another UK label, 887. The VIP mix of "Stealth" starts proceedings with a bang - dark tropical beats with a muscular bass bounce and even a cheeky hardcore break. Elsewhere "Ritual" sounds like Gary Numan's synth guys at a breaks night in Fabric and "Havoc" wraps things up with moody FX, evil bass stabs and tough, tense beats. Great to have them back.

Review: Warsaw duo appear next on UK bass imprint Saucy with their darkside, industrial strength breaks sound. First track "Vision" sounds like Mathew Jonson's "Decompression" if it was remixed by Meat Katie. It's more straight ahead 4/4 stomp on "Infinite" that is, until, it switches back to trippy early morning breaks; one to unleash once they're really in the zone. "Tethys" sees them team up with Dosage and is a more restrained and atmospheric effort, that lets the beats do most of the talking. Finally the Archive remix of "Infinite" is a right monster with furious sub bass and body bashing beats that showcases the extreme side of UK underground music to impressive effect.

Review: Polish duo Negativ make their Nu Wave debut with two show-stopping dark garage originals. "Damage" lives up to its name thanks to its Leng-ish bass wobbles, thundering, stripped back groove and progression into breezy breakbeats. "Float" comes with more of a classical 4/4 UKG edge thanks to its gritty bass riff. Dropping into moody spacious two-step midway, it's an intriguing dynamic that keeps you locked throughout.
