Review: As always with Neil Landstrumm, we are about to take a dive into the widened realms of electronic creativity, with this new LP giving us 10 unique adventures to dive head first into. From the super moogy synth work of the introductory 'The 93 Wanabe' to the super abstract pad and percussive combos of 'DROOP' and mind-melting sub squeals of 'POPCORN', it's safe to say there wouldn't be a box big enough anywhere to confine this project into. Our standouts across the full ten tracks include both the shuffling, garage-like drum arrangements and somewhat-spicy vocal samples of 'BRIAN HARV 140' and of course the hypnotic melodies and warping bass sweeps of 'After XL'. Top work once again from a true electronic music legend.

Review: It's been a while since Neil Landstrumm appeared on Sneaker Social Club. As always, this EP is reflective of his singular presence in modern electronic music. Both "Bravery" and "The Hawk" are quite different to the coruscating techno that Landstrumm made his name with back in the day, but many of the same cues remain. The rave tones, splurging bass and seething percussion now resound to a slower, stepping pace - but they still pack a mighty punch. In contrast, "Respect the Deal" is redolent of his peerless Restaurant of Assassins album, but with rolling break beats anchoring the lurching bass. Keeping the listener guessing, "The Prisoner" reveals a more contemplative side to Landstrumm's productions.

Review: It's been a short while since we last saw Neil Landstrumm unleash a new collection of heaters, but this new box of fun has been well worth the wait as the Scandinavia Works crew dole out the goods. First up, 'After XL' arrives to unleash a twisted combination of sub-rattling synth lines and vibrant vocal chops, with 'Hurt' then following a similar pattern, again utilising quirky lead vocals for a truly unique soundscape. Next up, the square waves run riot on 'Threads', a post-garage trip through unique sound design and lively rhythms, with the rave-like leads of 'Vague' then closing a bubbly selection out in style.

Review: As a legend of sonic exploration and sound design, we simply couldn't wait to dive into this latest collection from Neil Landstrumm, who arrives on Scandinavia Works for his brand new 'Pink Wafer' EP project. We begin with 'Dad's A Dick', a squelchy slide through warbling synthetic twitches and glitchy crunches, sitting on the very edge of an eskimo-sounding arrangement. Next, a more dubstep-sentric situation as 'Soul Glow' delivers a warbling combination of LFO flavours, with 'Good Enough For You' following a similar theme except being filled with an additional box of unpredictable drum punches and goofy chimes. We then get into something a little different as the old school breaks samples and patois vocal chops of 'Rub_N_Tug' gives us a look into old school rave culture, followed by the more modernised moogy bass bumps and shuffling percussive pulses of 'No Strings'. Finally, this forward-thinking showcase is rounded off by perhaps the weirdest kink in the kettle as 'Somethin' Else' deploys a combination of high pitched synthesiser whirls and tappy hi-hat goodness, giving us a very tasty finale indeed.

Review: Few artists have mapped out new possibilities for modern electronic music like Neil Landstrumm. Originally released in 1996, Understanding Disinformation is still testament to its author's ability to push techno to the outer limits. "Twisted In New York" and "Praline Horse" are Landstrumm's unique interpretation of Chicago techno, as nickel plated drums are soldered to grinding, groaning sub-bass. Meanwhile, the barrelling "The Glasvegas Experience" is a more club friendly take on the noisy sound he pioneered on Brown By August. In contrast, "Invasion Of The Bovine Snatchers" sees the seminal Scottish producer push in an abstract direction. The track's sub-bass and atonal howls pave the way for a direction explored most comprehensively on 2007's Restaurant Of Assassins. As a blueprint for re-imaging electronic music, Understanding Disinformation is still peerless.

Review: Having been such the civil servant to an unwieldy scene it's always a pleasure to see legends arnd staunch advocates of their sound make their way onto Cocoon. With the boom of ice cannons and confetti, Landstrumm arrives on the label with some deep, trippy and well inspired electro sounds, with the smooth club-aggro and bassline bounce in "Purple" a nice start. The record pulls slightly leftfield with with the computer electronics and baddass vocals of "Catnatized", with the title track "Sun Universe" your direct route to a sour-faced electro-rave banger.

Review: Neil Landstrumm has enjoyed something of a career revival of late, with killer EPs on Central Processing Unit, Running Back and Unknown to the Unknown re-asserting his long-held dancefloor credentials. Naturally, there's plenty more retro-futurist club fodder to be found on the Scottish producer's latest EP, which - as per usual - contains numerous sonic references to turn-of-the-90s bleep and bass. The standout cut is undoubtedly Si Begg hook-up "Hell Is Other People", a fiendishly raw, bass-heavy chunk of techno/electro fusion full of analogue intensity, weirdo robot vocals and Yorkshire style bleeps. He continues on a similarly sparse but weighty theme on "Aviemore", before wrapping a sleazy, Belgian style techno groove with spooky electronics on mind-altering closing cut "Jackshit".

Review: It's been twenty years since Sven Vath's Cocoon operation set up in Ibiza; since then the label's annual alphabet-themed compilations have also come to define techno's stylistic twists and turns. According to S, 2019 clearly saw the re-emergence of trance in its various forms, from Love Over Entropy's wide-eyed abandon to Stimming's more musical approach - audible on "The Gift That Never Stops To Give". Musicality is also a common theme on the house and techno that features on Compilation S, with Emanuel Satie's "Planet XXX" resounding to melodic chord stabs and Giegling artist Edward's "End Days" favouring chattering samples and a soaring bass - inspired by E-Dancer with a modern, Teutonic twist.

Review: It's hard to think of a label that would be less likely to release Neil Landstrumm's music than Running Back, so this EP underlines the fact that anything is possible. Admittedly, the Scottish producer has tempered his sound somewhat for Shitting Diamonds; "Sex With Madonna" and "Centurion X" both see the maverick producer make his sound more accessible, thanks to the pulsating bass tones and synths that swirl in overhead in majestic fashion. "Shame" also revolves around a throbbing bass-line but on this occasion, the synths and approach are more lo-fi. "Night Walker Zwei" meanwhile is a tougher techno work out, while he ends the release with the chugging electronic disco of "HI_Lm".
