Review: The liquid magician Nelver returns to Focuz with two tunes so effortless and soaring it's a surprise they can be tethered to a soundsystem. "Impressions" is an angsty wrench through heartache and solace with airy synths and piano loops that lift up a dark, rumbling bassline into another level. "Keep On" is a more laid-back production, with washed-out funk guitar licks shining through big, blocky drums before a very unorthodox breakdown moves things into jazzier territory. Beauty and bass, everyone needs it in their lives now and then.

Review: Stunning ethereal sounds from these world-class newcomers make for an interesting Celsius release this time around. Kicking off with "One Step", Nelver and NCamargo mix wounded, soulful sounds with wistful vocal samples to create a cinematic soundscape full of longing and sadness and hope. It's unexpected then, that after this insight into another world, Changing Faces fills side two with his own version of D&B perfection, by way of rugged hats and snares, minimal atmospheric tinkering and a lot of love for the old school. "Nothing You Can Say" is a straight-up liquid instant classic with a slight jungle twist. You've got to love that.

Review: What a gorgeous sound these guys make. Separately, each of their tunes make complete, isolated sense. Laid together in a row, and they all sing from the same verses. Individual style and influences rarely gel this well, so it's a special thing indeed when four extremely talented producers, each relatively new to the scene, each from different corners of the world can get along so harmoniously. Each track on here comes from a different part of the D&B spectrum, from liquid roller to jungle-tinged futuristic shakedown; don't be surprised to find things swinging wildly between the two and touching every variation on the way past. Variety like this is a wonderful thing.

Review: Another newcomer for talent-scouting, freshness-addicted Celsius Recordings UK sees a producer from small town Russia get his well-deserved turn in the limelight. He makes the most of it too, with two stunning tunes cut straight from the heart. There's something about first track "Hold You" that sounds endlessly melancholy; despite that washed-out, summery sound there's a feeling of deep contemplation, maybe brought about by deep, reverberating bass and wistful guitars playing around live drums. "Rise On Me" picks jungle breaks as a base, playing impressionist piano around a playful bassline. A soulful liquid release with technical intelligence and a fresh outlook. More of this, please.

Review: A recent signing to Celsius, Nelver is from the sleepy Russian town of Bryansk, which until recently was not on any sort of drum & bass map. Now, thanks to his melodic style of rolling liquid D&B, he's starting to make an impact on the wider world. From mournful atmospherics to lively dancefloor fillers, he's got his sound down already, and he's only just started. Keep your eyes on this one, he's going to be trouble.

Review: Russian newcomer Nelver has only a few releases to his name on liquid-minded label Focuz. This, his first outing on Triple Vision's Celsuis, is a double act of emotionally-charged drum and bass straight from the Moleman and Netsky school of twinkling piano ad-libs and soaring strings. "Back To The Past" is an airy-light swooper, fiddling with percussive textures and bright sparks of soulful vocals. "Last Challenger" comes down smooth with melancholy guitar meddlings and sharp percussion driving things forward. Two well-balanced tracks any new producer would be proud to put their name to, Nelver is definitely one to watch.

Review: A classically-trained Russian purveyor of progressive DnB, Nelver likes the more contemplative side of dance music. If Chris Martin were to make a DnB record, it would probably sound a lot like "Memories Of You" - all soft emotive keys and epically melancholic melodies. "What I Think" however, features more urgent beats this time married to dreamlike jazzy atmospherics.

Review: The latest Fokuz release sees a veritable meeting of cultures as Russian producer Nelver collaborates with Brazilian talent Simplification for the two track Running EP. Both tracks are underpinned by a strong sense of melodicism, with the rolling beats of the title track combing with soft piano keys and big synth chords with just the right amount of abrasion to keep things balanced. "One Moment" meanwhile is characterised by its sun-drenched soundscape and icy cold bass, perfectly encapsulating the disparate climes of the two producers.

Review: Next Celsius present us with another excellent EP to continue their catalogue of releases. This one, the Closer EP starts with Subranger and Sundesire's collaborative effort "Closer" which pairs light, mellifluous breaks with yearning, rather melancholic melodies to huge effect. Following this up is "Evening Stars" by Sundesire and Nelver which is a suitably calming and tranquil little number, punctuated by light percussion and gentle piano keys. Continuing the musical narrative, N4M3 and Sundesire's "Autumn Memories" is another lush, atmospheric track full of sweeping atmospherics and spaced out sounds, underpinned by booming sub bass. Last of all Sundesire brings everything to a close with the delightful sounds of "Some Day We'll Be Together". A great EP here.
