Courtesy of Neman, 'Show Off' sets the scene perfectly and captures the label's energy and funk. Highlights include the staccato drama of 'Dirty', the classic barrel chested harmonics and cheeky nature of 'Insane' and the rattling aggy tension of 'Darkside'. A highly accomplished release from a new label that's on the forefront of the new generation of D&B artists.

Review: Exactly a month after he's released an EP with a track called 'Lesson Learnt', Neman's 2021 track 'Mistakes' ironically returns, this time with a remix from Baker on this special one track missive from Tin Pan Sound. Retaining the jump-up wobbles and minor key harmonics of the original while twisting the bassline into something a little springier and more mischievous than the swaggering original, Baker has successfully added to the track's charm right here... There's no mistakes about it (not sorry)

Review: Tin Pan Sound are creating a name for themselves as a label who always bring out the big guns with their music. It's always heavy, hard-hitting and built on soundscapes and vibes which are deeply urban. The first track on this EP is no different and it kicks off with 'Let's Rock', a punchy roller with a bassline that stretches out over the horizon, the only constant being its grinding, coarse nature and the manner in which it constantly mutates and evolves. 'Something' is equally as rough but less rolling and more stepping, its structure and nature constantly changes, and it keeps the tune sounding consistently fresh. The rest of the EP is absolute vibes too.

Review: The minimal tones are out in full force on this one, as Hickupz is joined by several co-conspirators on Drippyboiii for a precisely engineered tour through drum & bass' clinical side. The title tune is almost liquid in style, as Professor Phattie injects some human soul into otherwise sparse, mechanical soundscapes. The Hickupz remix of 'Invasion' is the other highlight, a minimal track made perfect by the flurry of amens before the drop that act as a perfect counterweight to the spaciousness of the main section; a sub-focused roller that simply doesn't let up. That's the tone of this release and we love it.

Review: Okay who ordered an 'Invasion' with their 2020? We've had most other atrocities so why not, eh? Especially if it comes with a soundtrack as grizzled and nasty as this. The title track hit likes a Ram banger 10 years ago, all scorching and snarling, while 'Game Plan' takes us down a wrigglier route with slinky sub rolls, amens on the fills and Olly Riz getting real on the bars. Finally 'Flutes' bids the invaders adieu with its gentle, soft-focus rising arpeggios and subtle dancefloor liquid drive. We don't know why the invaders left (maybe because they realised humans had already pillaged the world's resources) but with music like Neman's inspiring us, neither do we care. We're just happy to be vibing to beats like these. Keep your eyes on Drippyboiii, something interesting is happening here.

Review: Drippyboiii is back and oh boy, this release is absolutely top notch. For anyone out there who likes their rollers dark and dirty yet precise and engineered with quality in mind, you'll be into this release. With three harsh tracks, this release is just bursting with quality and if we ran a label, we'd certainly be writing these names down for the future. The first track, 'Katana', from Caramel and Madrush MC, excels in its simplicity, with all the work being done in a simple yet devastating drum pattern and its relationship to top-notch bit of menacing MC work. The others follow this pattern: stunningly solid drums, fat basslines and arrangements rooted in simplicity, allowing the small details to shine, especially Neman's 'Land Of The Free', which packs a creative arrangement of fluttering jump stabs and drawn out bass notes. Naughty.

Review: Latch Recordings return with their first release this side of the rona and they're making up for lost time with two absolute bruisers from new duo Neman. Hot on the heels of their Pick N Mix release last month they bring two more sledgehammers: 'Exist' is a robust battering ram of a track with three different basslines all tightly woven to tease with Q&A charm over the wide load kick drums while 'Music' hits with a little more symphonic drama on the build before diving headfirst into another cascade of bass textures and a whole barrel of details. More of this please chaps.

Review: London/Portsmouth duo Neman make their debut on the ever-sweet Pick N Mix with two jams of the highest order. File 'On Your Mind' under 'bubbler' thanks to its bouncy Q&A bassline that flips through the keys in style. 'Send4Me' just be filed under 'slinky, hip-swinging bashment D&B'. Think Youngstar's blueprint dubstep/grime beat classic 'Pulse X' but buzzed up to D&B tempo and twisted for dark prangy tones of 2020. Tracks like these don't leave your mind for a long, long time.
