Review: Everyone's favourite petty pilferer Nick The Lot returns with four more brazen, unapologetic bangers. Each one as scatty as the next, it's Nick in fiery and ferocious form as he tears us limb from limb with his sandpaper funk basslines. 'Roll Through' is all about his oddball funk, 'Gravitational Pull' is a straight up face-melter with its harrowed revving sounds and 'Above A Storm' is a trippy bouncy jam that kicks with a lot of breezy spring. Last but not least we have 'Take Our Time' which could be Nick's most far-out joint so far. Sensual but in all the strangest ways, it could be one of Nick's most definitive tunes so far.

Review: Lock down your aerials (literally, he'll half inch them otherwise), Nick The Lot is back with his cronies, the conquistadors of contraband, dishing out some serious naughties like 'Crystal', a sci-fi take on jump-up that's artfully restrained, or 'Bubbling'. A rattlesnake banger from NTL himself - it's a springy sledgehammer of energy. There's some proper backdoor action going down elsewhere, too... Metal Work's on some next level space invader riffage, Pengo & Shifu get groovy with a nicely funky/ euphoric build-up, StillZ brings some super chubby 4x4 pumpage (and a really cool switch) and Jenks and SKPY bring some 23rd century sleaze into the mix. Next level business, the real crime here would be to sleep on these.

Review: Exclamations at the ready... Nick The Lot jumps aboard the good ship Dub Shotta with three bangers so tightly coiled and full of venom they're likely to illicit a severe slew of 'Oh My Gosh' remark from you, your dancefloor and your nan. The title track is all about the back-and-forth between the squeeky top line and the razzy, distorted low end, 'Inner Pickle' takes NTL's savage stew to a much darker place of tension before 'Radio Active Light' finishes off the EP with a full-flavoured chaotic tear-up. Oh gosh indeed.

Review: Gradient maintain their benchmark-setting pace, energy and creativity with the latest instalment of their 'Momentum' collection featuring an all-star cast of family members and founders. The message is clear from the off as Filthy Habits 'Street Scum' gets slappy with its energy and technoid aesthetic and L3MMY DUBZ adds to the intensity and fever with the totally twisted 'Punch Line'. Review: Stillz returns to Gradient with one of his biggest EPs so far. Paying tribute to all the sesh fallen soldiers, the title track pays homage to all those crews who can't find a lighter when they get home for the afters as Stillz and Nick The Lot go full ploughman with the kicks and glitches. Five more fire-ups follow, each one as hearty and heavy. Highlights include the Gino-level slams and slaps of 'Autopilot', the tense eeriness and raw energy of the drop on 'Defect' and the playful horn action of 'Jazz Music'. Review: Sub-liminal brings an end to the year that was, going out all guns blazing with on Air Part 2 featuring a bunch of wicked VIPs. Label staple Agro serves up several collaborations on here with the likes of Mentah, Raz, Diligent Fingers and Ghxsty. There's also a few offerings by the ever reliable Yatuza; our pick being the wonky stepper of "Distance" with Master Error. Elsewhere, Pyro pops up a few times throughout and was in fine form on "Smithdown Bass" and Prestige handed in a couple of quality dubs with neurofunk cut "Logical" being our pick of the bunch.

Neither is production for that matter, but Nick The Lot is very good at both and luckily he spends a lot more time in the studio than he does 'Gliding Through' your living room window these days, pinching your xBox. But if he did, this would be the soundtrack; a fun and funky sextet of filthy funk-ups ranging from the gritty bulbous bass and Hazard-like Q&A on the title track, to the epic jungle fills on 'There's Something' by way of the ultra-scattiness of 'Med Kit' and the icy glaciers of 'Alien Vessel'. Review: Home invasion! Nick The Lot gathers you and your loved ones and throws you all in the cupboard while he frolics round your house doing things that will irk you in all kinds of ways; the militant growler 'Invasion' is the sound of him jumping on your bed with his shoes on, the squelchy funk of 'Buckle Up' is him moving your car seats and wing mirrors out of position, the golden rushes of 'Rougher Than' is him mixing your socks and pants draws up and the scatty laser firing 'Finally Appeared' is him tearing the last page out of every book you have out, then swapping them all around. Sound like fun? These are only a handful of highlights, there are many more things Nick would like to do.

Review: Finally, an EP dedicated to your mum: 'Pear Shaped' is the latest in a recent slew of sickness from D&B's most treasured robber Nick The Lot. Delivered on his own imprint Pick The Lot, each of these four cuts hit with disgusting levels of energy and intensity. Highlights include the raffish growls on 'Pear Shaped', the stressed out AI voice and glitch-maxed twists on 'Dodgy Line', the rubber ball bassline and high levels of extreme slimy grot on 'A Living Nightmare' and the gutter-munching bassline and whimsical pipes on 'Witcraft'. Proper dark magic, go tell your ma.

Review: As if firing out badness galore through their 'Connected' series wasn't quite enough action for a label that's barely been around 6 months, Amplify and Metal Work's Gradient levels up again with the massive 'Foundations' VA that's stacked to the top shelf with some of drum & bass music's finest upstarts and high risers. 15 tracks deep, highlights come in all shapes and sizes including the sensual textures and tones of D-Fuser's 'Sticky Situations', the madcap jazzy springs and splutters of Fanatics' 'Everyday', KL's revved up staccato sizzler 'Plain To See', Metal Work's rather glacial 'Cold As Ice' and Parallel's early D-Minds style 'Capital Crimes'. Killer through and through, 'Foundations' as strong as this are built to last.
Review: Nick The Lot is one of the masters of new school jump up, and his sounds always manage to stay creative amidst a very saturated market. He's back on his regular label, Grid Recordings, and this is another superb single. The a-side is gruff and gritty, with an underbelly of pure metallic fire that just pops out of the block in an extremely satisfying manner. 'Fader' is a squawker, a rough and tumble approach that kicks you up the backside and then some. Wicked.
