Review: Informal is a relatively new record label who have jumped into the scene all guns blazing, having released a string of releases over the past few months. Now, they're launching their first ever VA LP and it's top quality, with sounds that span a wide variety of styles, from rolling liquid to dirty naughtiness. 'Straggler' by Code Lost is definitely in the latter category and it's definitely one of the best on the release, with a cavernous bassline of spinning twirls and a pulsating epicentre that pushes out the rest of the track in a slick fashion. One to cop, this.

Review: Nick The Lot is one of the most consistent jump up producers around and he's back on long-time collaborator Zombie Recordings, who have proven to be the perfect home for his unique brand of hybrid jump up. His sound never gets boring, and it's the punishingly deep sub bass of 'If You Were' that really carries the tune, especially as it spirals out into a twisting concotion of devilish basslines. 'Starman' is equally unique, as a fluttering twirl of stabs moves up and down through its mechanical soundscapes. Tight stuff from Nick the man.

Review: Grubs up! Twisted Individual's cooked up a feast of undead delights for the first Zombie Recordings V/A collection and everyone's invited. Chewy, spicy and full of gully victuals, across the collection we're treated to all range of flavours; the peppery aftertaste of Filthy Habits & Jeopardize's "Mind Transfer", the fruity funk bursts of Imaginary Friends' "Rooftop Jam", the gamey aroma and meaty chugs of Yatuza & Nick The Lot's "Mystic Ways" and the sweet and sour textures of Alex SLK's "Kluture" are just some of the many highlights on the menu. Review: Zombie Recordings always deliver tough, urban-edged sonics that don't prance around or act fancy, they just get down and dirty. Nick The Lot has delivered exactly that here, with a six-track EP of moody tones and no-nonsense drum lines. 'Mosh Pit' is a perfect example of said drums, with impossibly clean hits and a clear sense of space and progression, its bass stabs are almost shadowed out. 'Karma' is the most futuristic, with a deep back end and seriously cool synth spasms that lend it a techier feel than the other cuts on the EP. The other four are equally top-draw - make sure to check these.

Review: Nick The Lot is definitely one of the most promising producers over on the jump-up side of the scene, with a load of releases on Grid that have been blowing people's socks off. This time though he's on Zombie Recordings with a deadly six-tracker, and if you love a good foghorn as much as we do, then this release will definitely tick your boxes. Final track 'Origin' is wicked just for its rhythmic diversity, with stuttering drum breaks all over the shop and grating, satisfying basses filling in the gaps. The title track is another highlight, as is 'Manners'. Overall, very sick stuff from Nick here.

Review: Good4Nothing are turning 10 years old and are celebrating that fact in the only real way you should celebrate a label anniversary: with a big old compilation album. They've gone all-in for this one and raked up 15 tunes artists like Dutta, Ironlung, Slipz and Complex. Dutta' contribution is typically naughty, with a pulsating back end that sits just beneath a snappy drum line that includes a lovely, wooden snare that has just the right amount of bite. Part 1 of this series is a truly hedonistic banger of a compilation which is well worth checking out, we cannot wait to hear what the label has in store for us in Part 2.

Review: Most frequently spotted on his own Pick The Lock imprint and other imprints such as Zombie and Gradient, Nick The Lot returns to NY label Digital Terror with a full EP - 'Ganja Man'. Fragrant sonics as always, Nick sparks the joint up with the title track which hits with a classic sample and a big old smoky swagger. It's backed up by three more heavy strains... 'You Understand' hits like Gelato, sweet to begin with but intoxicating within seconds, 'Blue Fantas' is more of a pollen style smoke - dark, heavy and rich in flavour - while 'Fired Up' is more like your classic Gorilla Glue strain. Messy, addictive and guaranteed to keep you coming back for more. High grade as always from Mr T Lot.

Review: Exclamations at the ready... Nick The Lot jumps aboard the good ship Dub Shotta with three bangers so tightly coiled and full of venom they're likely to illicit a severe slew of 'Oh My Gosh' remark from you, your dancefloor and your nan. The title track is all about the back-and-forth between the squeeky top line and the razzy, distorted low end, 'Inner Pickle' takes NTL's savage stew to a much darker place of tension before 'Radio Active Light' finishes off the EP with a full-flavoured chaotic tear-up. Review: Good grief, good golly, good heavens... Nick The Lot and his Pick The Lot gang are back with more slick tricks than a 60s Cockney thug and the only criminal act would be to not pay attention. First 'Goodie Goodie VIP' gets real with bulging basses and a dark sense of funk while Stillz, Pengo and Spooka all get involved on the super-springy 'Battlefield'. Elsewhere Amplify and Master Error get busy on the warping, weirdo, super-squelch bubbler 'Crystal' before Nick shuts down the operation with the deeper, heads-down grizzler 'Anything You Say'. Review: Everyone's favourite petty pilferer Nick The Lot returns with four more brazen, unapologetic bangers. Each one as scatty as the next, it's Nick in fiery and ferocious form as he tears us limb from limb with his sandpaper funk basslines. 'Roll Through' is all about his oddball funk, 'Gravitational Pull' is a straight up face-melter with its harrowed revving sounds and 'Above A Storm' is a trippy bouncy jam that kicks with a lot of breezy spring. Last but not least we have 'Take Our Time' which could be Nick's most far-out joint so far. Sensual but in all the strangest ways, it could be one of Nick's most definitive tunes so far.

Review: Lock down your aerials (literally, he'll half inch them otherwise), Nick The Lot is back with his cronies, the conquistadors of contraband, dishing out some serious naughties like 'Crystal', a sci-fi take on jump-up that's artfully restrained, or 'Bubbling'. A rattlesnake banger from NTL himself - it's a springy sledgehammer of energy. There's some proper backdoor action going down elsewhere, too... Metal Work's on some next level space invader riffage, Pengo & Shifu get groovy with a nicely funky/ euphoric build-up, StillZ brings some super chubby 4x4 pumpage (and a really cool switch) and Jenks and SKPY bring some 23rd century sleaze into the mix. Next level business, the real crime here would be to sleep on these.

Review: Sub-liminal brings an end to the year that was, going out all guns blazing with on Air Part 2 featuring a bunch of wicked VIPs. Label staple Agro serves up several collaborations on here with the likes of Mentah, Raz, Diligent Fingers and Ghxsty. There's also a few offerings by the ever reliable Yatuza; our pick being the wonky stepper of "Distance" with Master Error. Elsewhere, Pyro pops up a few times throughout and was in fine form on "Smithdown Bass" and Prestige handed in a couple of quality dubs with neurofunk cut "Logical" being our pick of the bunch.
