Review: Boy oh boy what a year it has been for the Duploc family, who despite all the madness of 2020 have still kept up their incredible run of consistency, dropping nothing but bangers throughout the duration. This, presumably their final drop of the year sees them pull together a monstrous roster, featuring the likes of Cartridge, BunZer0, Ourman, Opus, Teffa, Sam Cosmic, Xakra and many more to give us one final celebratory look into dubstep in the modern era. The complete track listing is absolutely bonkers to tell you all the truth, with quality leaking out of every single original. Some favourites we have to mention however of course include the sizzling bass designs and spooky textures of Wraz's 'Ghost', alongside the fluttering flute melodies of Mani's 'Secret Forest' and 'Gibberish', a super smooth subby glider from Surreal & Somah.

Review: Following on from a fantastic selection of full length drops across 2020, the Duploc team continue their exciting run of form here, presenting the fourth chapter of their sumptuous 'Duploc Selects' series. They offer up another 10 system scorchers, with the likes of Rez, Oddkut, Hotcut, Nova and more all supplying the goods. The full tracklisting is pretty outstanding, but there are a couple of highlights we couldn't not mention, with Hella's spacey saxophone genius on 'Trinity Centre' being an instant hit. The sub-busting basslines and explosive reesey textures of 'Me N My Speakaz' from DRTY HBTZ is also an absolute bop, with the sizzling low end of Idioteque's 'Morality' also raising some eyebrows!

Review: Strut's archival remit remains as international as ever, with their latest compilation squaring the focus on late '70s Hawaii on the delightful Aloha Got Soul: Soul AOR & Disco In Hawai'i 1979-1985. Across the backdrop of societal change on the island (statehood into America in '59 and the Vietnam War) Hawaiian youth found inspiration in the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and later Earth Wind & Fire leading to a truly vibrant scene by the mid-'70s. It's after this where Strut pick up the story, bringing together a glorious 16 track collection that spans the genres and suggests Hawaii to be a most fertile location for music during this era. Do take some time to check the detailed sleeve notes from Aloha Got Soul's Roger Bong which offer further context for the music!

Review: Infernal Sounds have been on a killer roll of late, with every release landing with some serious impact. This latest assembly of delicious bassweight from Nova is another addition to that catalogue as we kick off this selection with the shivering LFO grinds and punchy drum slaps of the title track 'Bonafide', giving us a powerful opener. From here, 'Single Fuse' combines gnarly, haunted melodic designs with swampy drum additions to give us something bulging with low end power, before 'Fivers' takes us down a much more minimal road, again focussing however on those eerie atmospheric pads. For the finale, Foamplate gets involved for a bubbly creation by the name of 'Intricacy' which utilizes a fantastic sub-line atop lively percussive additions to see out the tracklisting in style.

Review: We have often spoken about how excited we are to hear new Infernal Sounds projects, with today's being the cherry on the top of a very exciting year so far. Having had them as guests on The JunoDownload podcast, we knew this drop was going to be a bit crazy, as they unveil twelve storming originals from some of the biggest names to grace the label, including the likes of Fiend, Causa, Bukkha, J:Kenzo, Sabab, Ternion Sound & more, all delivering power dubstep creations and upping the levels from one track to the next. The entire tracklisting is crazy, but our standouts would have to include firstly the warbling synthesizer rattles of Nova's 'Calivate', a storming original that really hits home on where dubstep is today. We would also have to include the gnarly electronic melodies of 'Gutta' from Dark Tantrums, alongside the more subtle chord structures and syncopated bliss of Oxossi's 'Wyldin'.

Review: The Foundation Audio rampage rages on here as they invite in the deep, dingy sounds of Nova for yet another storming four tracker, making a perfect addition to their already super impressive 2019 catalogue. We kick this one with the eerie string drifts and spacey, metallic textures of the title track 'City Sound', before the more swampy LFO textures of 'Spooken' wade into view with some serious punch. Next up, the amphibious sounds continue as the warbling bass rolls of 'Froggyness' warp their way through the mix before we finish this one up with the more harmonious compositional structure of 'Lagoon', giving the whole project a very colourful finish indeed!

Review: Next up from the fabulous Dread Or Dead imprint we see yet another top quality addition to the catalogue, following on from recent heaters alongside the likes of Shinobi Yurei, Ivo, Cyrax and more. Nova makes his return with a vengeance as we first dive into the original mix of 'Noughts & Crosses', a sub-heavy steppers sizzler, destined to cause incredible amounts of damage in any 140 dance through it's wavy bass slides and overall haunted vibe. The remixes for this one also add an entirely new dimension to the release, with Repulsion firstly sending the track to the electro blender with his outrageous recreation. On the flip, Dayzero delivers an aquatic rethink of the track, complete with bubbling synthesizer pulses and an unusual percussive line to keep it as unpredictable as ever. Lovely stuff from all involved.

Review: There appears to be no stopping the rampage of Nova at the moment as he brings forward yet another quality project, this time courtesy of Monsters Music. We kick off proceedings with the delicious sub Movement's and airy textures of 'Slumtown', before dashing into the skippy drum creations and dubwise bass leads of 'Ninjutsu'. Next up we have the title track 'Interterrestrial', a wavy half time roller, designed in classic Monsters shape and sound. Following this we land onto the bitcrushed oscillations of 'Rapid Eye Movement', before rounding off the project with some expertly crafted flavour on the angry sub reeses of 'Washed Brain'.

Review: The Cutcross Recordings crew have struck gold with this latest collection, welcoming the combined potency of both Nova and Taiko to the table for a box of spicy dubstep heat, exploring both collaborative and solo endeavours. Firstly, Nova steps for an LFO-driven rumble through gnarly bass notation and shimmering rhythmic pressure on 'Gruffa', followed by Taiko's typically twangy solo outing on 'Pastorius', giving us a tidy balance between relaxation and raucousness. From here, we then jump into two heavyweight collaborations, with the syncopated drums and aquatic LFO routines of 'Ocean Echo' landing first, followed by the unique synthesiser designs and crunchy reese textures of 'Pips' to close the project out with a classy finale.

Review: For this latest tasty link we see Nova land on Plantpower for a selection of super nostalgic dubstep jams, channeling the more introspective ends of the genre into two potent original creations. We kick off with the glittering percussive inputs and breezy chord pushes of 'Caffeine Dub' which casts images of early Anti-Social Music sets into our minds with it's delicacy and subtle delights. On the flip, we dive into a much more percussive design as 'Reincarnate' brings forward bouncy congas and choppy rhythmic maneuvers to inject some OG dubstep energy into the dance! It's a fantastic two tracker and a top quality tribute to dubsteps origins!

Review: Inspired by the lack of pigeonholing in today's bassline scene, the much respected Low Pitched have rustled up their first album, Low Pitched Presents: Resonate, which aims to capture this aforementioned musical diversity. They haven't held back either, packing a whopping 23 new jams on this album, truly laying claim to having all bases covered. Highlights include the juddering low-end juggernaut "Patterns" by Clexx, the crisp, floating in space 2-stepper "Rowdy" and the truly next level, otherworldly rhythms of "Swedger" by Sketchman. Review: Swinging into view with an oversized suitcase full of wobbly basslines and a rucksack of spooky noises, Nova stick two fingers up to the D&B establishment with their latest single for the aptly titled Amunition Recordings. The title track itself is a fiery beast, all mangled rhythms, killer bass wobble and scattergun noises. If you were fleeing for your life from a swam of cyber-wasps set free by a shaven-headed goon in a souped-up Vauxhall Astra, this would be the soundtrack. Flipside "Geoglyph" is similarly mentally unbalanced, coming on like the mutant offspring of David Icke and a rubber-clad Doctor Who monster on heat!

Review: It's been a year since Slime's second instalment of their leading compilation Future Sound Of Garage series. Now the follow-up has finally arrived boasting 28 examples of what they to be consider music of the future. There are too many to name, but highlights include the ethereal and sensual future-step opener "Return" by Monoblue, the seductive, delicate chimes of the shimmering "Ever Feel" by Just Breathe, the sparse and raw 2-step of Pavv's "Let It Go" and even the uber commercial Ibiza-friendly anthem "Stone" by Project X is a (guilty) pleasure.
