Review: The Night Bass train continues to roll out furiously as they employ the services of five brand new faces across their brand new compilation 'Night Bass Freshmen'. Being one of the most popular bass labels in the UK, the standard is set very high and everyone steps up to the mark, kicking off with Blossom's vibrant 4x4 belter 'Go'. We then move into Nukid's highly experimental electro balad in 'Front2Back' before landing on the techy bass rolls of 'The Burbs' from Jordan Burns. Next up, Kendoll with his slightly acidic stomper in 'Stop Calling Me' before we round of the EP with some minimalist UK Bass from the rapidly rising duo of Nubass & Deppz.
Review: London's Nubass steps forward for his long awaited debut release on Sheffield's infamous 'Project Allout' imprint. Having only taken up music production around twelve months ago, this is an incredible body of work for the eighteen year old. As a producer he has been receiving solid DJ support from the likes of Holy Goof, Shapes, Bushbaby and more. His 'Intimidate' EP is jam packed with bassline goodness, featuring three skippy original creations, taking clear inspirations from classic UK garage and the newer darkside of UK bass movement. The PAR gang go to work on remixes, with Hutchinson supplying an earth shaking rebuild of 'Drop Top' and Nadine stepping forward for a hazardous redesign of 'Riff'.
Review: It's been a very exciting year for NuBass so far, who seems to be able to do no wrong as he continues to expand both his fanbase and catalogue with hard hitting releases dropping left, right and centre. We here see him touch down on the legendary Night Bass imprint across four absolute heaters, including the unique synth riffs of the title track 'Fuego'. This is followed by the pounding dancefloor flavours within 'Trippin', before a weighty collaboration with Hot Goods rolls into place by the name of 'Dead Prez'. Finally, Purple Velvet Curtains joins the party with yet another smashing vocal introduction, as the futuristic techy tones of 'Dusk' wade into view.
Review: It seems as if there is no stopping the fire that LW Recordings have lit as they put together yet another heavyweight compilation, this time featuring 25 absolute stormers from some of the waviest faces in the scene. Stylistically, the LP ranges quite drastically from neurotic breakbeat rhythms and hardstyle bassline to more chilled out UKG themes and unusual 2 steppy flavours. For us the immediate highlights are quite obvious, those being Gosize's euphoric breakbeat adventure in the emotive chords and perfectly crafted breaks of 'Take Me To Heaven', along with Nadine's dancefloor heavy rework of 'Riff' by Nubass. A special mention has to also go to TBFM & Chilllito for their incredibly smooth 'Did You Really Care' creation.
Review: As a label, Crucast have gone from strength to strength, rapidly establishing themselves as one of the premiere platforms for bass music in the UK. This complication marks that out perfectly with an astonishing selection of over 30 original creations, featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Jaguar Skills, Brent Kilner, Pavv, TC4, Inkline, Deadbeat UK and a tonne more. For us the EP highlights the strength in the current UK bass scene, with favourites being Bushbaby & Hadean's long-awaited collaboration release 'Clean Up', the monstrous swinging synths of Tengu's 'Weapon' and of course the wonky wonderings of SaidWho's 'Voices', a truly original compositional idea, focussing on rawcus bass sounds and scattered drum selections.
Review: Well well well, we have to say we heard tell of a mega compilation that was set to be emerging out of the bass scene in the near future, but nobody could have predicted it to be this powerful as Holy Goof unveils his Globes compilation, championing all aspects of 4x4 bass music to the maximum. We see A-list appearances from top to bottom with Notion, Chris Lorenzo, Fine Art, Skepsis, FooR, Bushbaby and more all gracing the listing with top draw originals. For us the immediate standouts on this one have to include the emotional expanse of Freddie Martin's 'Stubborn', which comes complete with cracking original vocals, along with the rapid fire LFO shells of Livsey's 'Supersonic' and the big room synths of Skue-K's 'Flows'.
