Review: We first became aware of Null + Void (AKA New York-based producer Kurt Uenala) when he made a guest appearance on Kaspar Bjorke's Fountain of Youth album in the summer of 2016. Since then, he's successfully struck out on his own, delivering the well-regarded Asphalt Kiss earlier this year. Single-track salvo "Paragon" is therefore his second solo release for HFN Music. Bobbing along at a chug-friendly 110 BPM, the track's attractiveness is built on the twin appeal of a strong analogue bassline and the kind of melodic synthesizer flourishes that recall the Pet Shop Boys more melancholic moments. "Paragon" sits somewhere between Nein style nu-disco psychedelia and high-grade instrumental synth-pop; it's an attractive place to be.
