Invariant Hyperbola
Review: Swedish producer Ola Obergman has been at the top of his game for over 20 years now, dropping superb electro on the finest labels. Last year he dropped a fantastic full-length album on Pariter, but now steps up to Infiltrate with a direct dancefloor offering. 'Norma Cluster' pairs busy drums and bass with more atmospheric leads before 'Invariant Hyperbola' has a perfectly crisp boom-bap that is run through with synth sequences that get your head amongst the stars. 'Sterile Neutrino' is more raw and ragged with another irresistible rhythm and 'Dragonfly44' closes in a thoughtful fashion.

Curvature Of Time Part 1
Review: Ola Bergman has been releasing electronic music for almost twenty years, with his work gracing respected labels like Abstract Forms, Brokntoys and Stilleben. Now he debuts on Solar One with an excellent electro four-tracker. "Aerobahn" resounds to stripped back, acid-soaked drums, while Bergman brings his melodic sensibilities to bear on the floating, atmospheric "Jacobian Determinant". On "Dirac Spinor", Bergman venture down a darker path: accompanied by malevolent bass and eerie synth lines, it sees the Swedish producer reach a paranoid, Rother-esque destination. "Julius Mosca" is also of a darker disposition, but its low-slung rhythm is more redolent of Gerald Donald's spooky Zwischenwelt project.

Relative Persuasions
Review: Brokntoys was one of the best electro labels to emerge before the current hype, and will be still going strong long after the bandwagon leaves town. This is all down to its enviable track record in releasing distinctive iterations of this style; Art 220 kick-starts this release with the spiky beats, drilling percussion and acid-gurgling riffs of "Meur Maei", while XY0815 and Int Main journey down a route sound-tracked by crunchy drums, a staccato rhythm and a tearing bass. On Obergman's "Chronostasis",spooky synths and steely drums are powered by surging low end, while The Jaffa Kid's superbly-named "Intergalactic War Trials" is a hypnotic slice of electronic malevolence.

Balance 027
Magda / Various
Played by: Maceo Plex
Review: Australia's Balance Music is known for its quality mixes by the very finest in the underground music circuit. With previous compilations by the likes of New York's Danny Tenaglia, Deetron and Funk D'Void, among others, this is as close to a Fabric mix as you can get without those shiny tin cases. Ex-minimal legend turned all-out techno queen Magda steps up for number 27 in the series, and it's nothing but vibes on this one. Amalgamating shreds of stripped back techno - Marcel Dettmann, DVS1, Samuli Kemppi - together with newer, more underground sounds from some of the most cutting-edge labels around - Marco Bernardi's Sandman project, TTT's Minor Science, XDB and Shackleton - the Minus legend shows why she's still one of the best in the game and a true expert at evolving her aesthetic. A great mix, dig in.
