Review: Johannes 'Tin Man' Auvinen and Max 'Patricia' Ravitz follow 2020's Powers of Ten long player with another fine underground work. Using the 303 as the basis for the album, the pair tease new shapes and sounds from their boxes. "Red Shift" is a melodic, melancholic piece, while on "Meteor Shower", they apply acid to cinematic deep techno with mind-blowing effects. In contrast, both "Solar Wind" and "Orbital" adhere more closely to the classic 303 sound, as warbling acid lines unravel over stripped back rhythms. Celestial Body Music is a timeless snapshot of two underground producers at the height of their powers - don't miss this chance to hitch a ride with them to the outer acid cosmos.

Review: Ociya is a collaboration between Tin Man and Max 'Patricia' Ravitz, and Powers Of Ten is their debut album together under this alias. It sees the hardware-loving pair deviate somewhat from their trademark sound: the title track features soaring strings and airy melodies; on "Overview Effect" they achieve the same trance-like effect as Mathew Jonson's live machine jams and "Control Subsystem" is a droning affair. There is also no shortage of acid-sprawled acid tracks: "Ghost Moons" is a stripped back, drum-heavy affair and "Hopeful Galaxy" sees them drop a wiry rhythm that resounds to gurgling 303s. It makes for a fine, assured debut album.

Review: No matter what you think of Tin Man's work, there is no doubt that he is one of the most singular artists working in modern electronic music. Ironically, as the Acid Friend compilation demonstrates, his adherence to the 303 means that he has attracted many like minds. This results in moments such as the sweet deep house take on "The Muse" by CH40, the plaintive version of "Verity Acid" by Megan and Foreign Material's resonating re-shape of "Depthy Acid". Tin Man is also keen to give new artists a platform, with acid-heavy tracks from Dovs and Rolling Ones impressing, but the most rewarding moments here are the reworks of original Tin Man material.
