DUPLOC100
Review: In all honesty, we are running out of words to describe the pure domination we are seeing from the Duploc camp, especially with their output thriving heavily in 2023's unique dubstep ecosystem. For this latest offering, they celebrate their 100th official drop with a regal arrangement of guests, including the likes of Lost, Wraz, Rugby, Ternion Sound, ENiGMA Dubz and more, all of whom have pulled out their weightiest weapons in combined celebration. If you wanted a full on display of the majesty currently at work within dubstep's deep catacombs, then look no further than this epic selection, with our favourites including the ground mulching bass melodies of Hebbe's 'The Insider', next to Mystic State's warming rework of 'Voice' from Opus, and of course Hamdi's rave-ready synth action explored within 'Immortal'. There aren't many collectives doing more than the Duploc team right now.

Nada EP
Review: Ome is back on the Wheel & Deal wagon, this time delivering a potent four track collection, dripping in original steppers energy. We begin with a serious piece of 140 weight as the drippy percussive plucks and hard hitting bass tones of 'Nada' come together for a tumultuous introductory original. Following on from this, Photom delivers a more LFO-inducing overhaul, giving us a different outlook on a serious dancefloor weapon, before 'In My Style' sees a rapturous rip of high energy bass warbles run riot across the low end. Finally, two successive bad boys, with 'Triggered' giving us a moody roller, jam-packed with subby sweetness, before the haunted atmospheres and swampy bass sweeps of 'Between The Lines' give us a mega closing session. Awesome work!

Raw EP
Review: We all love a swampy new one from the Subaltern team, who this time around, unleash a serious pack of sizzlers from Ome, one of the most exciting names in dubstep music right now. We kick off with the title track 'Raw', a gritty dive into gnarly LFO lines and eerie atmospheric backdrops, perfect for the heads down in the dance crew. From here, Busted Fingerz arrives for some additional work on the shimmering synthetics of 'No Runnin', which again adds to the weird and wonderful texture of the overall tracklisting, followed by 'Talkin' Mathematics', which sees Yoofee also get involved with some seriously chunky industrial drum work. Finally, the super wonky warbles and syncopated drum shuffles of 'Stinker' give us a final slap of steppers goodness, rounding the EP off in style.

140 Allstars Vol 1
Various
Review: The Duploc imprint has without a doubt been one of dubstep's shining lights over the course of the last few years, both as a label imprint and as a general space to explore steppers music worldwide. This first edition of their new '140 Allstars' compilation series is a perfect example of their explosive range when it comes to releasing music. First up, JSM arrives with his eerie creation by the name of '1893', weaving together bitcrushed synths and stuttered drum runs in style. This is then followed by the quirky melodic twists of 11th Hour with 'Immortals', alongside the minimal and unusual synth shivers of 'Swerve' from Crowley. From here we continue forward into the trappy rhythms and pounding subs of Causa's 'Triple Choc', before the oldschool, DMZ-sounding LFOs of Ome's 'Better Stay Home' and the haunted, metallic slaps of Ninety's 'Snake's Kiss' VIP mix. Exceptional work as per from a top quality imprint.

For The Heads Compilation Vol 3
Various
Played by: NAZA
Review: Now with dubstep compilations, it's often the case that we will see projects stacked up with a couple of bangers and a bag of average creations, however this latest fifteen track body from the For The Heads gang consists of nothing but pure steppers flavour. The line up alone is immense, pulling together some of the biggest new school names in dubstep as a whole, including: WZ, Kali, Ome, Mistah, SBK, Mungk and more. If we had to pick a pair of favorites, it would have to include the delicious delays and marshy bass textures of 'Deep Meditation' from Teffa, alongside the glittering LFO's and scattered drum beats of 'Curren't from Sedan. Awesome stuff!

Review: It looks like Locus Sound have done it again with this one as they invite the wonderful sounds of OME in for three tracks of colourful dubstep expression. Let us kick off with the beautiful arrangements of 'Canarios', which combines subtle percussive lines with sweeping overhead pad lines and short woodwind bursts to give us a smooth, soothing roller. Next, the title track 'Bermuda' is rolled out which switches up the vibe completely, driving forward with fat LFO warbles and distant shimmering melodies. Finally, 'Rollin' is unveiled, switching the organic percussion for metallic slaps and rounding us up in style'.

Way Too Far
Played by: Tik&Borrow
Review: This is an EP that oozes class from start to finish, and for us, sits pretty solidly as one of the most powerful dubstep releases of 2019 as OME lands of Simply Deep for five tracks of pure brilliance. We kick off with 'Another', a shimmering behemoth of glittering flutey tones and whirling atmospheric pads, followed by the warbling crunches of 'Way Too Far'. Next up, we face the haunting arpeggios of 'Luna Sangrante' before diving into a pair of very well designe remixes. Firstly, Busted Fingerz flips 'Another' into an apocalyptic grimey explosion, with Allone then reimagining 'Way Too Far' into a smooth hip hop roller. Awesome stuff!
