Review: Well, when we saw this title land in the store we were as surprised as anyone to see that Four40 Records, one of the most active and exciting UK bass labels across the full breadth of 2020 has just turned 10 years old. This is a pretty outstanding achievement, for a label that is still at the forefront of it's sound to this very day. The compilation of course features some of the biggest releases from across the breadth of Four40's incredible catalogue of content, from the likes of Hybrid Theory, I Killed Kenny, Pavv, Limita and more, condensing ten years of musical progression into one extended tape. We also get to hear a bag of exciting new exclusives from the newer breed of the Four40 roster, including music from The Phat Controlla, Blakk Habit, Lucas Maverick, Gemi, Badger, Patrick Kane, Yozhi, George IV and more. What an incredible way to round off the year!

Review: The 1Forty team have kept it as consistent as anyone across the breadth of 2020, despite founder LockT operating pretty much solo throughout the course of the year. He looks to finish things off with a band as the sixth edition of their grime compilation series lands with some serious impact, kicking off with bassline vocal legend Bomma B linking up with Prizma & Muhla for a rave-ready vocal smash in 'Bully Boy'. Next, a killer duo emerges as Hamdi links up with the ever-ready Logan for 'Bun Dem Down', with Hamdi's quirky instrumental design providing another perfect base from which Logan is able to display his vocal mastery. Following that we have two powerful instrumentals as Fork & Knife firstly unleashes the powerful synthetic structures and crunchy drum slaps of 'Reptar', before rounding off on 'Ris Key', a 2-step inspired roller from On1, This is a perfect way to round off the year for a very special project indeed!

Review: Throughout 2020 we have seen a lot of lines between genres crossing, with 140 music and the bassline, garage, funky debacle being good examples. Today however we are checking out possibly the most exciting genre-meshing this year as On1 unleashes the drill to UKG hybridization of his new project, kicking off with the pulsating 808 sub pressure and skippy hi-hat expressions of 'Makita'. Next, the breathy bass poundings and tenacious snare rolls of 'Ryobi' arrive in style, before we finish off the journey through this one with a look at 'Terra'. We would say this is the most drill-like of the bunch as a wave of synthetic melodic sweeps are greeted with shuffling drums and yet more of those engulfing sub slaps, making this one the perfect way to round off a very exciting trio of originals.

Review: The Southpoint unit have had yet another sparkling year, with their sound constantly evolving at the forefront of UK bass music's ever expanding boundaries and parameters. This year they have taken it to the next level, with the seventh edition of their 'Southpoint Presents' series launching across all platforms, including bangers from the likes of KXVU, Jakebob, Bushbaby, Muttley, Moony, Mofaux, Dunman, Drax, Movement, Tengu and more. We also see Presents debuts for the likes of MPH, On1, Negativ and Daffy, arguably rendering their strongest compilation in the series.

Review: So, as garage rages forward and claims back a lot of its forgotten fanbase, we are seeing labels such as Rare Supply set some serious pace, with a rapid release schedule and quality oozing out the sides of every drop. Their latest project sees ON1 get busy across two heated collaborations, the first one being the title track 'Dub', alongside the toast-ready vocal prowess of Shantie. On the flip side, we see him tag in another one of the UKG newschool in Kobe JT, who touches down with some nostalgic flavours in 'New Gen'. This release also comes complete with the instrumental mix of 'Dub'.

Review: What a run of form we are witnessing from the legendary Four40 imprint at the minute as they continue to unleash a tonne of high-quality UKG projects one after the other. They here employ the fantastic production abilities of On1, who gets super busy on the groovy rolls and exciting rhythmic twists of 'Slinky', a stripped back belter that uses choppy bass tones and subtle melodies to induce some serious undercover winds. On remix duty, Fork & Knife is on hand to give this one hell of a grimey twissup, reformatting the subtle sub tones for distorted, reesey leads. Excellent stuff indeed.

Review: As always, it's a real pleasure to see the likes of Four40 hit back with yet another awesome compilation project. Over the years we have been treated to some absolute gems from these guys, a trend which continues as Kastle unveils his specially selected 'Get Right inside' compilation, complete with a full studio mix of the tracks involved. We look through the tracklisting on this one to find awesome pieces from the likes of Exit99, Opus, Duncan Powell and many more high profile names. For us the standouts of this project have to include the high energy collaboration between Jammz & Roska entitled 'Energy & Stamina', along with Witchdoctor's groovy spectacular in 'From The inside'.

Review: With this being their second release in as many minutes, Strictly Flava seem to have been stacking up some serious UKG ammunition in the archives as they unleash a terrific outing from On1. We are gifted two tracks of vibrant bliss, with the first track 'Hybrid' packing a funky punch amidst spacey rhythmic designs and weighty bass creations. On the flip side we darken the tone slightly as 'Slug' emerges with a monstrous sub-line driving it forward. This is then topped with a bag of unique synth sounds and scattered percussive gatherings, perfect for sending the dance down a grimey route.

Review: Sheffield's Project Allout don't mess about, having developed a reputation for championing all directions in the ways of bass. Every take on that three letter word is important to this label and that's why they cram so many hot jams onto their comps. Basically they're the Ferrero Rocher am-bass-adors and they are really spoiling us with 49(!) lengerz. Highlights include AT's bleepy 8-bit hip-hop groove "Flash Bang", the epic, symphonic trap of Dubzta's "Lord Of War" and the almost disco tech grooves of "Murkers' by King Hydra. All killer, no filler!
