Review: Bedrock Records is 15 years old in 2024. We don't know yet how they'll celebrate this milestone, so for now we'll focus on their first release of the year: a fresh edition of Oniris's 2013 progressive-meets-tech-house classic 'The Rebirth', featuring Pat Brooks. The fantastic original mix - a fine fusion of shuffling tech-house drums, sweeping strings, electric piano loops and extended piano solos - comes accompanied by a trio of fresh reworks. Nick Muir and John Digweed fittingly kick things off with a typically melodic, slowly unfurling revision full of squelchy bass, bubbly electronics and fluid piano motifs, before Rude Hagelstein delivers a decidedly druggy, early morning revision. Roundings things off is the jazzy and sun splashed 'Blissed Out version', a classic Ibiza style downtempo take that's worth the admission price on its own.

Review: John Digweed presents Futuro: a 25-track compilation celebrating 25 years of his hugely influential Bedrock label (established in 1999). Taking in the likes of Bushwacka with tracks like "Lectrobee" to the "Bleu Cobalt" studio collaboration between Digweed, Nick Muir, and Captain Mustache - other notables here include label legends and associates like Marco Bailey, David Morales and Rodriguez Jr. Replete with uplifting melodies, pulsating rhythms and progressive hose suggestions, there's extra slices of techno from Raxon, next to select cuts by Sasha Carassi, Lost Desert, and Weska all the more. Bedrock's best.

Review: After initially refusing to reveal their identities or those of their artists, CD03 QR founders Laurent Garnier and Scan X softened their stance a little. It's interesting then that the label's latest expansive EP once again features no explanation of the producers involved, who in true sci-fi techno style have been given numeric codes. Their point is that it doesn't matter who made the music as it should be about the quality of the tracks on show. Helpfully, this is another very strong collection that variously touches on warming, intergalactic deep house ('Get Down'), hypnotic, retro-futurist techno positivity ('Meraki'), sleazy slo-mo chuggers ('Midnight Run'), skewed hip-hop ('Permission'), dark-room intensity (the Sxan X-esque 'No Joke' and 'Flexible Life') and vocal tech-jazz brilliance ('It's That').

Review: According to the label, opening track "Meharee" is 'a bracing ride across the Arabic desert'. It's not hard to understand how Systematic arrived at this description: its flutes and mellow pianos are mixed with mysterious eastern tones and supported by a gentle, undulating groove. You can almost feel the warm air against your face as the track unfolds. By contrast, "Capacocha" is a darker affair, with a menacing bass providing the basis for twitchy percussion and haunting melodic tones. On "Landscapes", there's another shift from Oniris and this time classical piano keys unfold over a mellow groove that bubbles and pulsates seductively.

Review: Clocking in at 50 tracks, Tour shows that the German label isn't just about naive trance melodies and rickety, minimal beats. It starts with the deep ambience of Tominic's "Shine", which over the course of nine minutes moves into bleepy, minimal pulses. In contrast, there's the dubby house of Paul Bart's "Call It Anything You Want" and David Heckhausen's "Hang Zur Sonne Paul", a clicky, mid-tempo groove covered in organic textures. Despite this, trance fans won't be left disappointed; there's the buzzsaw bass and organic textures of Theo Meier's "Eichhorn", the gentle, spiralling melodies of Peet's seductive "Timers" and best of all, the brittle rhythm and day-glo hooks on Reinier Zonneveld's "Gevorderd Spelers".

Review: Had enough of Ibiza's pounding tribal house and party minimal sounds? Bedrock feels the same way. Or at least for the duration of this excellent compilation they do. Jon Digweed has used his A&R (and persuasive) powers to their fullest, commissioning ambient and down tempo pieces from artists more commonly associated with peak-time club bangers. King Unique and Charlie May contribute haunting, fragile ambient tracks; the Ibiza Summer Balearic remix of Jimmy Van M and AFFKT' "Dreams" featuring Luxor T comprises lazy beats and sun-kissed vocals, while best of all, the Japanese Popstars' "Out Of Nowhere (Reprise)" is a stunningly cinematic ambient trance piece.
