Re-illumination Series Vol 1
Beaches Of The Black Sea (Cosmodelica remix) - (7:34) 123 BPM Hot
Stealing The Fire From Heaven (Split Secs remix) - (5:15) 116 BPM
Review: The Pacific Wizard Foundation launches a new series entitled Re Illumination Series: which will evidently see some of the Los Angeles crew's favourite artists rework Pacific Horizons material. Cosmo teams up with Yam Who to deliver a trademark Cosmodelica revision of "Beaches Of The Black Sea" that somehow increases the languid Balearic feel of the original - fans of International Feel output should gravitate towards this one. This is complemented by an excellent remix of "Stealing The Fire From Heaven" by fellow LA residents Split Secs aka Alexandre Mouracade & TK Disko, who you might recall from a rather fine Jolly Jams EP. Split Secs work on expanding the sprawling dubby industrial explosion of the original into a full blown track and succeed with aplomb. More of this please Pacific Wizard Foundation.

Club Meds (The Ixtapa mix) - (5:32) 125 BPM
Review: Wondrously deep vibes abound on this one-track release from the Pacific Horizons camp. If you've not already caught up with these West Coast cats before, they've been bubbling in all the right disco and house circles, and made a cool, calm dent last year with numerous excellent releases. This latest release sees PH in slightly more club-focused form; "Club Med" is a relentless piano groove with a warm, trustworthy heartbeat bassline. Gradually building with 808 snares we suddenly dive off the top board into Balearic guitar heaven. This is one Club Med you'll actually want to visit...

The Forest Electric (Kenji Takimi & Tomoki Kanda Being Borings remix) - (8:09) 120 BPM
Beaches Of The Black Sea (Romeo remix) - (8:21) 118 BPM
Fata Morgana (J Disko's Relish remix) - (8:11) 53 BPM
Review: Los Angeles' Pacific Horizons gets remixed by a stellar cast on the Re Illumination Series Volume 2. There's some UK style bass driven house on "Bandini (Frisvold & Lindbaek remix)", some sublime disco infused balearica on "The Forest Electric (Kenji Takimi & Tomoki Kanda Being Borings remix)", likewise on "Fata Morgana (J Disko's Relish remix)" too. But it's more on the cosmic, nu-disco tip. Also of note, there's some slow burning and detuned EBM flavour courtesy of Romeo and his remix of "Beaches Of The Black Sea."
