Review: Lee Foss' intention is to Repopulate Mars: ambitious as that is, we're pretty sure he'd turn in a good effort to Repopulate Miami this year - with this bunch of tech house heroes. 2018's fun in the sun is soundtracked by the likes of Bristol's Eli Brown on the tough rolling main room groove of "Cartegena", Verona's Federico Ambrosi with the bumpin' bass driven funk attack "Egypt" and rising UK star Dale Howard (Elrow/Toolroom) with his jacking and adrenalised dancefloor drama as heard on "Naughty Organ". Elsewhere, Malaga's Javi Lopez turns in a fine effort following up releases on top labels like and VIVa Music on the grinding pre-peak time people mover "Vibes Up".
Review: Next up on Lee Foss and Jamie Jones' Emerald City: Two stone cold authentic funk house gems from longstanding Italian house OG Paolo Martini. Tapping deep into the source, strong traces of disco are entrenched throughout the Paul's Boutique founder's cuts: "Red Rocks" fuels up on lolloping loose-stringed bass and relentlessly slapping drums while "Le Fonque" subverts a classic with sudden string spirals and echoes of the iconic vocal. Timeless, solid and ultimately fonquey.
Javi Bora & Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax - "The Great Night" - (6:53) 123 BPM
Review: The first part in the DJ editions of Glasgow Underground's latest Digital Love series features new disco-fied cuts from Italian Paolo Martini, the Verona-based veteran whips up a right disco inferno on the scorcher "Inch By Inch", 'current face of house music' Ant La Rock from America gets down with some sexy and looped-up business (strictly for DJ use!) on "Take Your Place" and the truly incredible teaming up of Javi Bora & Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax get properly soulful and uplifting on the sunkissed groove of "The Great Night" amongst plenty more others offered on here.
