Review: Total Science's CIA take a moment for reflection as they look back over the decades of hard service they've done and cherry pick a few old gold favourites. As with previous Select Files collections, the range is widescreen and full of authentic, timeless, honest D&B. You want highlights? You best start going through every track... Everything from Calibre's 2009 snarling bongo-buster "Understand" to some of S.P.Y's earliest cuts such as "Dark Age" and "Magic Hour" and the VIP of Total Science's evergreen ballistic rave weapon "Defcom 69" still hits the spot like they did the first time round. Get selective.

Review: Fresh from launching their own label for their collaborations last year, longstanding compadres Seba and Paradox land on the Metalheadz mothership once again with two outstanding lessons in D&B realism. "Hexagon" is glacial and furious. Original late 90s rudiments; the beats are pneumatic, the flavours and cosmic, the vibe is barbed and tense throughout. "Love Or Death" takes us down an even darker drumfunk rabbit hole where the breaks do all the talking. Absolute slap-about business with no holds barred in any element or ingredient. What a way to kick off the new decade for both Paradox, Seba and Metalheadz.

Review: Paradox is one of the most consistent jungle producers around and we've been loving his output across the many years of his production history. His latest single is quintessential Paradox: spacious, atmospheric breaks music with a focus on sophistication that doesn't sacrifice grit. This is one for the true heads and if you like your music dumbed down with frills attached, then this probably isn't for you. 'Decagon' summarises this perfectly, with its booming snare drum as the centrepiece, each percussive hit precisely engineered around it to create the overall vibe of deep roughness. Quality single as per usual.

Review: In the world of jungle music, producer duos don't get a lot more dynamic or historic than Nucleus and Paradox. The pair have released on some of the biggest labels about, including the mighty Metalheadz, and their ability to craft jungle music with genuine depth never ceases to stay fresh and exciting. 'Volantis' proves that in exceptional style, a drawn-out, atmospheric intro never reaches fever pitches because it doesn't need to; this one is all about the journey, not the finale. 'Electropia' is equally as stunning and equally as thought-provoking, featherweight jungle drums contrast with the usual heaviness in uniquely glorious fashion, and the obscenely good vocal sampling is the final touch. An exceptionally good release from some exceptionally good producers.

Review: The break professor returns! Biting down on 2018 like it's one of your mum's best brownies, once again he makes everything sound so spacious, effortless and natural. The roomy dynamism on the drums and sudden drop into strange cosmic space slop on "The Bolide" are guaranteed to grab you by the cohones while "Dioxan" throes down a b-boy dual with its bubbling sub funk, twisted bass variations, classic samples and minimal rhythm make-up. Classic Paradox.
