Review: With releases from Patrick Skoog, The Persuader and Joel Mull already in its catalogue, Parabel can lay claim to being one of the most consistent European techno imprints. This split release will certainly do its reputation no harm. It starts with label regular Patrick Siech's contribution, "Astral Node", a sinister, swirling affair that sounds like what it feels to be sucked in to the centre of a black hole. Dino Sabatini's "Yabara" is just as moody; slower and stepping, it seduces the listener with its cavernous filters and dense tracts of percussion. Ritus pushes the release into Mike Parker mode with the pulsating tones of "A8", while Finnish techno wunderkind Samuli Kemppi closes the release with the detuned, droning tones of "Sirens".

Review: Dutch label Mary Go Wild Black is fast becoming known as one of the most consistent club techno labels, and this release will serve to bolster its reputation. The work of Patrick Siech, who has released before on Drumcode and Minus, it starts with the deep, spaced out rhythms and tonal bleeps of "Tetrahedron Cluster", which sounds similar to P.God and Mike Parker. "Bubbli" is more abrasive and sees Siech pick up the pace to deliver a grimy, bruising workout. The remixes are also of a high quality. Fabrizio Lapiana's version of "Tetrahedron Cluster" mines a similar path to "Bubbli", with a hypnotic groove led by hammering drums, while on the Abstract Division version of "Bubbli", spacey synths are fused with a growling acid line.

Review: Swedish label Parabel celebrates reaching double figures with this split release. It starts with Patrick Siech's "Noctambulist", where the Parabel and Drumcode regular delivers a driving but deeply musical sound, its chords soaring over a tough, rolling rhythm. On "Molgon", Petter B, another Swedish artist, drops an eerie, stripped back techno track, while Nima Khak ups the pace with "Reportage Sur Moto". Its groove pulses and rolls subtly, with atmospheric pads and chords building up and down throughout the arrangement. Newcomer Benjamin Mull closes out the release with "Cavandish", where a different approach prevails - instead of straight kicks, broken beats underpin the track's eerie textures.

Review: Malmo Sweden's Patrick Siech is back everyone, look out! Following up a great release for Richie Hawtin's seminal m_nus imprint last year collaborating with fellow Swedish techno hero Sebastian Mullaert (of Minilogue fame), he strikes out on his own offering an EP full of restrained yet fierce techno weapons. "Zorro" is dense and furious with sinister sound design lurking in the background which is perfect for building the vibe, but "Lo Clouds" is perfect to transition into the peak time with its adrenalised bass driven groove, industrial textures and sonar melody. "Kloroform" is harsh broken techno with noisy, harsh sound design and dark strings that sounds like early Surgeon while final track "M277" sounds like classic Marcel Dettmann on this flattering tribute.
