Review: Mark Broom teams up with Patrik Carrera for this hard-hitting four track release. "KOS" is a tough minimal track. Powered by insistent metallic percussion and visceral kicks, it's primed for peak-time use. The partnership yields a different result on the title track. Focused on a throbbing groove and an insistent, grungy loop, it makes for a powerful roller. Broom and Carrera remain in this general territory for "Track 4". Fuelled by a driving rhythm and merciless metallic percussion, its deft filtered twists and turns are sure to have the desired impact. There's no let-up on "F9" either, where the pair drop a tough, insistent workout.

Review: Developer's label drops a monster 18-track compilation that showcases a diverse range of modern techno styles. There's the drum-heavy loops of CNCPT's "New Science & Telekinesis Facility 10" and the buzzing, percussive grooves that define the contributions from Emitto Audio's "Mars Radiation Terminal 20" and Insolate's "Cern Research Center 35". Taking the compilation to a bleaker place is the eerie, oppressive mood on Patrik Carrera's "Mars Radiation Terminal 25", but there are also more esoteric contributions such as the hypnotic tones of Ryogo Yamamori's "Center For Cyborg Data & Control 75". If you are looking for a view of where dance floor techno is headed, WAV1095 offers a ringside seat.

Review: The third volume of Mutable Minds boasts established names lining out alongside emerging producers. One of those newer artists is Astronomical Telegram, whose "Pride" is a multi-layered dub techno affair. Another newcomer, James Bong, opts for a harder route with the acid-led "13", while Craig Mcwhinney aka Vohkinne drops the tough kicks and rave stabs of "Dead Orchard". Not to be outdone, the veterans also impress; both Pfirter's "Falling Bridges" and Patrick Carrera's "Valamar Conflict" are pounding tracks that unravel to the sound of pummelling kicks and grainy industrial riffs, while on "Intruder", Dimi Angelis delivers a blistering analogue techno banger that centres on firing percussion and grainy tones.
