Review: As is the case with previous EPs, the latest collaboration between Pfirter and Oliver Rosemann is named after a letter in the Greek alphabet. "Epsilon 1" is a dense track, with looped tones and relentless percussion unfolding over a jacking rhythm. The second "Epsilon" is more intense, as ominous waves build and build over resonating kicks. The release also features two stellar remixes. Lakej's take on "Epsilon 1" resounds to high-pitched percussive slivers and a hammering metallic rhythm. Meanwhile, seminal producer Sleeparchive turns "Epsilon 2" into a relentless Millsian workout, led by nickel plated kicks and foreboding, filtered drops.

Review: MindTrip boss Pfirter is the latest artist to release on Metro Black, and these tracks are at the harder end of his sound. "Defibrilator" is based on a tough tribal groove, with insistent beats providing the basis for Pfirter to add on acid tweaks and layer upon layer of noisy percussion. The title track sees the intensity levels ramped up, with a firing metallic rhythm, chain mail hi hats and insistent filters combined for a crafty, peak-time techno track. "Conversion" is a visceral but still distinctive affair, with Pfirter using harsh kicks and noisy hi hats as the backdrop for evocative vocal samples, while Hektor Legion's take increases the tempo and deploys a throbbing bass and pounding rhythm to devastating effect.

Review: The second instalment in Pfirter's Imagery series delivers a fresh masterclass in club techno. "Dungeon" is a lean, linear track that resounds to glitchy percussion, dubbed out claps and a repetitive acid loop - the combination makes for an understated but effective dance floor track. "Form" sees Pfirter veer into a psychedelic realm, as chiming bells are layered over a lithe rhythm. It stands in stark contrast to "Distant", where the Barcelona-based artist switches into full-on mode to deliver a slamming techno workout, powered by an ominous bass and firing hi hats. "Attack" is more restrained but still impactful, with relentless kicks and razor-sharp percussion propelling the arrangement forward.

Review: Juan Pablo Pfirter's second album starts with dramatic synth washes and repetitive vocal snatches on "Venus". It sets the scene for what comes next - a series of futuristic techno tracks that sound like they emanated from another dimension. The pounding "A Future in Chaos" and "Commitment" are redolent of classic 90s Planetary Assault Systems, with sleek, pulsating rhythms housing piledriving percussion and mind-altering filters. Meanwhile on the title track, Pfirter delivers the kind of searing, tonal tracks that characterised the more brutal end of Hawtin's FUSE project. That's not to suggest Pfirter only looks backwards: the rolling break beats of "Boiler", which house ghostly textures, and "Unilateral", a compelling piece of dramatic metallic techno, are truly futuristic.

Review: Imagery I is Pfirter's second release on Odd Even, and it sees him drop an energetic, well-measured release. "Resist" is a linear, hypnotic track that centres on repetitive tones and a ticking percussion, while on "Metro", the MindTrip boss explores a denser sound; driven by muddy drums and acrid riffs, it makes for a distinctive combination. "Birth" is different again, as Pfirter ups the pace and drops a percussive track that is fuelled by shuffling, metallic drums and layer upon layer of electronic riffs. Last but by no means least is "Muting Society", where Pfirter goes back to basics for a driving, relentless techno track.

Review: Gamma is the latest in a series of collaborations between Pfirter and Oliver Rosemann, and follows on from their recent joint EP on Stockholm LTD. Fans of pared back, hypnotic techno will find much to love here: "Gamma 01" pits Purposemaker funk against Ben Sims' loopy grooves to create a killer DJ tool, while on "Gamma 02", the pair serve up a more industrial sound, as steely riffs are fused with a driving rhythm. The third instalment sees Pfirter and Rosemann up the pace to drop a frenetic tribal workout, powered by razor shape hats, while "Gamma 04" is a deeper but still impactful slice of loopy techno.

Review: Label boss Pfirter hooks up with Artur Moreira aka N?rbak for this relentless release. "Life Happens Twice" is based on a frazzled, throbbing rhythm, but the pair also make space for ethereal vocals amid the firing percussion. There's a similar approach on "Truth of Existence", with Pfirter and N?rbak putting a focus on rough but direct grooves, and they up the intensity levels for "Questionable Concept of Freedom". While inspired by dub techno sound design, the militaristic, steely rhythm and relentless arranging mean it is especially impactful. Closing out the release is "Conquer Fear", where the MindTrip owner and N?rbak again harness the power of the cavernous aesthetic to drop a turbo-charged, linear banger.

Review: Par Grindvik and Juan Pablo Pfirter have enjoyed a long artistic relationship, with the MindTrip boss first releasing on Grindvik's Stockholm LTD over 12 years ago. Following on from their most recent collaboration, last year's El Fortin, they open their 2021 account with this powerful club EP. "Temon" resounds to surging, powerful chords, and captures the sense of excitement that will be felt when clubs eventually re-open. The title track meanwhile, is more linear and tracky, designed for the peak time thanks to its firing, sheet metal percussion. "Life" is also tailor made for maximum impact, thanks to its dense kicks, throbbing bass and razor-sharp hi hats. "Eye Glare" rounds off this fine collaboration, with thunderous drums providing the backdrop for a snaking, menacing bass.

Review: The twentieth release on Andre Kronert's label sees MindTrip boss Pfirter deliver a high-impact EP. "Through My Window" is a lean roller that resounds to swirling synths, while on "Last Breath", he strips out any semblance of melody to deliver a fuzzy, tribal affair. "Endless" has an accurate title, with churning chords looped to the back drop of a dense, rolling groove, the kind of hypnotic arrangement that sounds like it goes on forever. "Certain" meanwhile, sees Pfirter go deeper with its high-paced, steely rhythm shot through with atmospheric chords, while on "Release" he ups the ante to deliver an insistent, buzzing track.
