Phace & Mefjus - "FRIED" - (3:26) 172 BPM Hot
Phace & Grey Code - "E" - (4:39) 170 BPM
Phace & Yunis - "HAUPTSTRASSE" - (2:42) 173 BPM
Phace & Emperor - "IMPASSE" - (2:53) 172 BPM
Review: Phace hits the big one-oh with his collabo-flavoured 'LINKED' series and it's a behemoth of a package as Mefjus, Grey Code, Emperor and Yunis all join the German dark lord. Four flaming jams from four very different perspectives: 'Fried' (with Mefjus) takes the lead with its spiralling sense of insanity and intensity, 'E' (with Grey Code) opts for much more of an emotional trip. Elsewhere 'Impasse' (with Emperor) fires up the old neuro machine for the heaviest and most direct KO punch of the session while 'Hauptstrasse' (with Yunis) flips the vibe for a halftime sensation. Link link to make the DJs wink... This one's got us all in sync

Rockwell & The Upbeats - "Level" - (4:15) 172 BPM Hot
Rockwell & Phace - "Block" - (3:54) 172 BPM
Review: Maximum Obsolete Medium: Rockwell returns to his burgeoning label with a bunch of pals and sacks full of fire. Antipodean arsonists The Upbeats join the fray first for the hair-scorching sizzler "Level". All rasping, high voltage sizzles and singes, if this doesn't have your dancefloor on their knees begging for mercy you're in the wrong line of work. Similar exclamations can be made about "Block" as Rockers heads to Germany for a grizzly, off-beat raffish tet-a-tet with Phace. Up another level...

Review: When a label as consistent and as well rounded as Shogun Audio announce a 'Classics' release it obviously sends shivers around the drum & bass community. It's hard to imagine condensing thirteen years of dominance into a minimized box of thirty classics, but just looking at the tracklisting is awe-inspiring. We see classic reappearances from the likes of Friction, Spor, Break, Icicle, Rockwell, Spectrasoul, Alix Perez, Camo & Krooked and that's not even half of the names involved. To break it down simply, this compilation summarizes why Shogun hold such a legendary status within the scene, through incredible consistency and magnificent diversity of sound.

Review: From Prolix to Technimatic, Total Science to Was A Be by way of Icicle, Joe Ford, Fourward, Spectrasoul, Phace, Ed.It and many more, Friction's label digs deep from the genre's most innovative corners and eras. As we prepare to close off 2016, they've taken a detailed look back over the last 18 months of crucial output to not just represent where the label is at, but the genre itself. An ideal opportunity to fill any holes in your collection cuts such as Fourward & Linguistics demonic stomper "Storm", Was A Be's rudeboy-slewing halftime damager "Blind" or Break's sparkling "Emerald" and complete with a journeyman mix of the tracks themselves, this rounds up yet another serious year at the very forefront of drum & bass.

Review: What a crazy trip it's been.... Four months ago Shogun commenced their 100th release celebrations with the start of a four-part series that's seen some of the label's finest releases and broadest scope in recent years. Now all 16 tracks are available in one package, ranging from the horn-hazed bliss of Friction & Karma's "No Return" to Phace's deep space synth tear-up "Mumbo Jumbo" by way of Technimatic's string-surged "Transference" and Ivy Lab's impeccable shake-up of SpectraSoul's "Glimpse", if you're uncertain on just how on-point Shogun are then this collection firmly states exactly where Friction's label is at... And where they're heading.

Shogun/100, Pt 2
Phace - "Mumbo Jumbo" - (4:53) 170 BPM
Joe Ford - "Time Is Limited" - (5:28) 172 BPM
SpectraSoul - "Glimpse" (feat DBridge - Ivy Lab remix) - (4:43) 170 BPM Hot
Proxima - "Sens8" - (4:41) 173 BPM
Review: As if their first 100 EP didn't hit the spot, Shogun return with another all-star cast for the second round of their centennial celebrations: Phace takes the lead with his own distinctive dark funk with guttural bass and synth hooks that rip in from nowhere, Joe Ford shows off a more cosmic side to his palette with a purring elastic bassline and dynamics so floaty and melodic they're not dissimilar to Camo & Krooked. Deeper again we hit halftime havoc with Promixa's steel-drum-smashing "Sens8" but the highlight for most will be Ivy Lab's remix of SpectraSoul's delicious 2010 stepper "Glimpse". Still kissed by DBridge's yearning alto, the Lab flex back to their deep rolling roots with slick, spacey and outright sexy results.

Critical Presents: Sequence One
Enei - "Obsession" (feat MC DRS) - (4:57) Hot
Ulterior Motive - "Divergence" - (5:03) 172 BPM
Phace - "Freedom Of Filth" - (5:50) 172 BPM
Jubei & Kasra - "The Rift" - (5:15) 172 BPM
Review: Hold tight Critical crew; Kasra's got a new series in the pipeline, as Critical Presents: Sequence One. Bringing together four gems from some of the hottest artists who have gravitated to the London label in 2011, this is a must buy for the discerning D&B fan. Russian-based emerging star Enei, with the hypnotic, ominous bass-laden "Obsession" (feat. DRS) features, as do Bournemouth duo Ulterior Motive with their suitably tech-ed up monster "Divergence". Also on there is Neosignal's Phace, live and direct from Germany with the punishing, neuro-tinged "Freedom Of Filth", and finally label owner Kasra makes an appearance with Jubei on "The Rift". Big, bad and heavy.

Program
Program - (5:16) 170 BPM Hot
Noisia - "Regurgitate" - (5:20) 172 BPM
Review: The mighty Dutch trio team up with Neosignal's Phace for one of the roughest rides since, well, the last Noisia release! "Program" builds from a "Desert Orgy" style intro, full of scraping SFX, industrial beats and ominous melodic progression, into a full throttle aural assault with tense percussion, accelerating drop and rambunctious drums. "Regurgitate" sees Noisia going solo for another sterling affair; a sonorous, instrumental intro paves the way for a tough tumultuous main tune, replete with a reverberating, chopped up vocal which sounds like it's trapped beneath the smashing beats, thudding subs and crushing bassline. Magnificent.
