Review: Fuse resident Phara aka Robin De Wolf delivers the second release on the club's fledgling label. As a regular DJ at the seminal Belgian venue, he displays an intuitive understanding of its many sonic styles and tones. The title track is dense, rolling techno groove, tailor made for peak-time use. In contrast, "Blaes 208" is a deep, melodic track, where breezy synths are fused with irresistible pulses. "Hush Now 206"sees De Wolf deliver a dubbed-out groove that resounds to ticking percussion and growling bass. And returning to the peak time, "Motion Steps" is a searing minimal workout that will light up discerning dance floors.

The Final Pattern - (6:17) 140 BPM
Verbs & Snares - (5:45) 140 BPM Hot
Review: In a short space of time, Fuse resident Robin De Wolf aka Phara has made a name with his hard-hitting techno. This latest release is no exception. "The Final Pattern" is at the atmospheric end of Phara's sonic spectrum. Powered by an ominous bass and featuring ticking percussion, these elements combine to create a moody but impactful dance floor track. "Verbs & Snares" is a more frenetic affair. Based on lead weight kicks and powered by a pumping rhythm, it features wave upon wave of percussion and a pulsating, throbbing bass. These elements all combine to make for highly impactful modern club techno.

Falling Forward
Falling Forward - (6:25) 137 BPM Hot
Order Disorder - (5:42) 138 BPM
Gate1 - (6:37) 140 BPM
Cerulean Blue - (6:25) 137 BPM
Review: Phara aka Robin De Wolf has released a succession of killer techno Eps on his Phaaar label - and Falling Forward is the latest impressive addition to the catalogue. The title track is a heads-down workout. Led by steely drums and a driving rhythm, these elements provide the backdrop for swirling, ghostly synths. "Order Disorder" is harsher. Here, De Wolf is inspired by the tougher end of Millsian techno, with water drop bleeps cascading over an iron-clad rhythm and wave upon wave of building synths. "Gate 1" sees another shift in style, as pounding tribal drums underpin scattergun percussion and a repetitive, warbling riff. Rounding off this fine, purist release is "Cerulean Blue", a more cerebral affair, where De Wolf lays down eerie synths and a pulsating bass.

The Fleshy Part Of The Thigh - (6:42) 136 BPM
In Dubio - (5:58) 138 BPM
Float - (6:14) 136 BPM
Review: Phara aka Robin De Wolf is one of the resident DJs at Fuse in Brussels. It should come as no surprise then that the techno heritage of that seminal club is audible throughout his latest EP. "Flux" is a high-octane percussive workout with a melodic undercurrent - think vintage 100% Pure with a tight, contemporary production aesthetic. In contrast, "Fleshy Part of the Thigh" is a lush deep techno track, with woozy synths looped to a skeletal rhythm. "In Dubio" sees De Wolf fuse tough kicks and snappy percussion with his penchant for melodies. He goes deep again on "Float", which sounds like a mellow take on Rotation-era Vince Watson.

Review: It must be challenging for a long-running label to come up with fresh ideas, but that is exactly what Planet Rhythm has achieved on its latest compilation. TWCOR's "How It Ends" revisits the glory days of Frankfurt Trax techno with its pounding kicks, Vinicius Honorio maps out a new direction for big room techno on the thundering filters and wild rave stabs of "Time & Space" and Two Sided Agency's "Controlled Cycle" is a synapse-melting acid track. There is also a more considered side to Planet Rhythm, and it's audible here on Tom Hades' "Felis", where the veteran producer pairs emotive synths with a rolling tribal groove.

Faffie's Jam (Drum mix) - (6:16) 134 BPM
Review: Robin De Wolf aka Phara put out an album on Black Sun back in 2016, and has been steadily rising through international techno ranks ever since. Mind Inside, his second EP on Planet Rhythm, demonstrates why he is so deserving of our attention. "FM" starts off the release in full-on mode, its pounding kicks and coruscating industrial riffs sounding like The Advent at his most potent. By contrast, the title track is a far more stripped back affair, with minimal drums and bass rumbling and cascading in classic Plastikman style. "Perception" is different again, as De Wolf delivers an intense acid workout, before ending the release with the wonderfully hypnotic percussive jam that is "Faffie's Jam (Drum Mix)".
