Review: Soma's Collective Process is designed to connect the dots between modern techno's disparate sounds. The tenth edition of the series achieves this feat in style. Aida Arko's "Just One Dream" resounds to a hammering rhythm and hypnotic, textured swirls. Farnaz' contribution, "Surrounded By Fascination" may unfolds to a frenetic pace but it is also musical, thanks to the use of building chords. On "Inner Movements", Fixon & Pushmann deliver a lean, drum-heavy groove that builds and drops seductively thanks to the use of tripped out tones and coruscating riffs. And last but by no means least is the funk bass-led of Philippe Petit's "Evolution".

Review: In a short space of time, the RSPX series has become a key part of the Rekids imprint. More broadly, the releases are essential for discerning techno DJs. This compilation shines a light on why RSPX enjoys this status. Mark Broom's "Late Night Rave Muncher" is a diva vocal-led, high energy club banger, while Klint's "Mustang" achieves the same impact by different means. Focused on a rolling groove, filtered vocals weave in and out of the arrangement. That's not to suggest that the series is all about banging techno. Gene Richards Jr's "Take Control" is a superb, Chicago influenced jacker, powered by a primal groove and piledriving claps, while Philippe Petit's "Form & Function" resounds to eerie organs and a shuffling rhythm.

Review: With releases on Figure, Ear to Ground and his own Knotweed imprints, it was only a matter of time before Philippe Petit showed up on Rekids. Anger sees him visit some of the 90s styles that makes Matt Edwards' label so distinctive; the title track resounds to an ominous organ riff that swirls in over a rolling rhythm, while on "Crystal Clear", Petit delivers a deeper take on this sound, with Bobby Konders-style synths accompanying a similarly insistent groove. "When We Meet" is a very different proposition within the Belgian producer dropping a lean, minimal workout that is led by rippling percussion and Rob Hood-style synth stabs, while Petit changes direction once again on the mesmerising deep techno of "La Floria".

Review: There's a serious message running through the latest release on Decision Making Theory. The work of label owner Philippe Petit, it states that humanity is witnessing 'a meltdown' and that we will be left to deal with the aftermath. By way of a soundtrack, there's the knotted, acid-heavy "Causes", while the title track is a heads-down, relentless affair that just keeps on building. Thankfully though, it's not all bad news; closing track "Consequences" offers some solace. Despite cruises along at 130bpm, its layered, building chords and scatter gun percussion create a euphoric Detroit-style finale to this socially aware EP.

Review: Philippe Petit is one of the unsung heroes of European techno. This is partly due to the fact that his label, Knotweed, has focused a lot of its efforts on releasing music by luminaries like Terrence Dixon and Myles Serge. However, Fracture looks certain to redress that imbalance. Designed to accommodate a range of moods and feelings, the release starts with the detuned riffs of "Killdozer", before heading to the peak time thanks to the pulsating, acid-led bass of "Five Zero". On "See The Light", the Knotweed boss focuses on a similar approach - although its whooshing synths somewhat offset the effect of its pulsating bass and hammering kicks - while on the title track, Petit calls to mind Rob Hood's visceral minimal thanks to its searing riffs and malevolent chord stabs.
