Review: Jelly Bean Farm is a new label intent on delivering all kinds of bass and techno goodness to the world. They don't mess about either, beginning life with big, hefty compilations. This, one, Jelly Bean Farm - Exit, is no different: presenting 12 of the most forward-facing cuts around. Highlights include the moody synthwork and machine gun percussion of "Locate & Destroy" by Phrixus, the spacey tech meets drum frenzy of "Dat Dat" by Loss, the deep, minimal beats of "Turbine" by Henry Greenleaf and the alt-ghetto grooves of "Facile" by Kinsman. Dope sounds!

Review: There seems to be no shortage of bass talent from Leeds these days, and this new EP from Phrixus on Circular Jaw is loose and odd enough to grab our attention instantly. The opener is a double-act from Phrixus and Zealey, a minimal UK hip hop banger, but the rest of the EP unfolds with the help of bizarre and otherworldly sounds in the same vein as labels like Night Slugs. "Endromatt" is actually our favourite on here, a collection of bleeps and sirens barely held together by a rippling beat structure, but you should also check out other smokin' tunes like the eerie and dubbed-out "Prism Of Fate", or the fiery stepper that is "Expanse Of Your Energy". Sick.

Review: Bad boy bass man Phrixus is back with mighty fury on Sounds Of Sumo, and he's open for business as usual, rolling out the punches and the low-frequency weight. This seven-tracker has everything you'd possibly want from a UK bass release, with the majority of the tunes dipping and diving in and out of pseudo grime sways, peaks of house and even a little wobble step in the low-end. Remixes come from Kiri, Croft and Fritz Carlton.

Ghost (She's Drunk remix) - (5:25) 130 BPM
Mood 2 (Mendoza remix) - (7:15) 129 BPM
Review: Currently celebrating their fifth birthday, Kry Wolf's Sounds Of Sumo is an imprint that knows it's on fire right now. This latest release sees them get behind 19 year-old Phrixus from Leeds, a young producer obsessed with all things bass. The three originals here all reveal a talent with real potential -from the minimal ghetto grind of "Ghost" and the jazz tom-tom attack of "Mood 2" to the moody dubstep of "Recluse". Remix-wise She's Drunk delivers a deliciously deep and percussive take on the title track and Mood 2 is pumped up into a clap-happy, peak time joint by Mendoza.
