Dead Eyes (feat Jordan Perkic) - (5:29) 140 BPM
from $1.95
Review: Noir by name, noir by nature, Montana-based Piecemeal has created a crystalline body of bass music work. "The Price Of Victory" is a barbed beatless piece of ominous ambience that will work perfectly as an agenda-setting intro for any mix. The title track itself takes us into 130 territories on a cleverly incomplete two-step riddim. "To Be Honest" delves deeper into cross-pollination as Piecemeal helps us imagine what Leftfield would sound like if they started now thanks to a sinewy dynamic and some majestic vocal sample manipulation. "Dead Eyes" finishes this set with darkest message yet as Jordan Perkic tips his hat to the likes of Cobain and Gahan with immersive and meditative results.

Fire Department (Rasper remix) - (5:04) 142 BPM

Review: Angular bass steppery from US murker Piecemeal: "Fire Department" is a cutlass slice of instrumental grime, all one stretched one note bass tones over punctuated precision kicks and snares that double up when you least expect them to. The remixes are equally spotless; OldGold takes us down into the dungeon with a rolling Truth-style drum dynamic and sense of menace while Rasper brings the sirens and lets the drama of the atmosphere play the lead role. Smoking.

Screwface - (5:29) 105 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release

Review: Montana murker Piecemeal returns to Sure Sate with two more precision executed sub jams, both taught with trippy samples and creative arrangements. "Mug" is the soundtrack to a grimy modern western that's yet to be made, all spooked out string twangs and a loaded sense of pensive danger. "Screwface" takes us to even stranger places with its bird chirp samples, tin-pan drum shots, demonic human elements and occasional bass burps that stretch into the foggy distance. Properly unique.

Piecemeal - "Simple" - (5:36) 56 BPM
from $1.95
Review: Wondrously deep material from Phase Seven cohorts Piecemeal and OldGold. "Words" whispers the sweetest of sonic dreams directly into your cochlea, the heavy breathing synths making you shiver with ever resounding chord. "Simple" takes a darker twist as the US paring unleash a pacier kick dynamic under a dense bed of minor key synth pressure. Trust us - there is nothing simple about this release!
