The production trio of Lee Spence, Jake Dawson and Peter Stanley already have releases notched up for Moon Harbour and Relief under the Pirate Copy guise, and now they bring their techy house sound to UK imprint Sola. "Birth Place" smartly brings together clicky minimal rhythms with splurging acid lines and Chicago kettle drums. The inclusion of a ponderous vocal that pontificates about the power of the 303 only serves to make the arrangement even wilder. On the title track, they opt for a different approach. Based on a rolling, tracky groove, it leads into an insistent, piano riff imbued with a sense of drama. Only the playful filter ensures that "Piano Track" doesn't also veer into the same wild realms as "Birth Place'.
