Review: As ever, Punks have only gone and delivered a bombshell with this one as they unveil the third edition of their super celebrated 'BBQ Beats' series, featuring 20 outstanding break-inspired original creations. The roster for this one is pretty outstanding as we see the likes of Taim, Aurbs, Leda Stray, Jay Robinson, Plump DJs, Mafia Kiss and a tonne more join forces with label founders: Stanton Warriors for a fantastic display. Although this one really is jam packed, our immediate standouts would have to include the subtle subs and percussive licks of 'Love Theory' from Aylen, alongside Daze Prism's super techy 'Further', a spicy original indeed. Amazing work overall.

Review: New State have the honour and privilege of unveiling this extremely hard hitting original collection from the living legends: Stanton Warriors, with their new album project 'Dance Floor'. The album from start to finish gives an excellent showcase of what is going in bass music worldwide, with a selection of originals from their in house label: Punks and more. From listening through, our highlights have to include the subtle, techy flavours of Foundry's 'About Your Love' remix, featuring Lily Mckenzie, along with the punchy collaboration with Taiki Nulight entitled 'Beat Up' and of course Left/Right's spooky rethink of the title track 'Rise'.

Lose Your Mind (Remixes)
Lose Your Mind (Tru Fonix remix) - (3:48) 126 BPM Hot
Lose Your Mind (Beatslappaz remix) - (3:51) 130 BPM
Review: It seems that the tireless souls heading up Punks are at it again as they bring back the legendary Plump DJs for a top draw remix project, featuring two very exciting overhauls of the well received 'Lose Your Mind'. We begin the party with the irresistible sounds of Tru Fonix who send the track to the neurotic blender, rearming it with sharp shuffled bass stabs and lively drum expressions. On the flip we are introduced to a breaksy masterpiece as Beatslappaz get to work with an explosive recreation, focussing on sublow triplets and pulsating sub work. Both of these are set to do some serious damage!

Review: It's been a massive 2018 for Punks, who have continuously been putting out banger after banger. Nothing sums up the level at which they have been performing better than the second edition of their BBQ Beats compilation, this time featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Stanton Warriors, Nixon, Donkong, Plump DJ's and many more. For us the instant standouts have to be Wes Smith with his super groovy 'Rave On' composition along with Outlord's dubwise breakbeat fusion in 'Down The House'. A special shout has to go to Beatslappaz for their stomping contribution in 'The Drop', which is also an instant piece of rave dynamite.

Let's Bounce - (4:01) 126 BPM Hot
Fired Up - (4:00) 128 BPM
Review: As ever, Punks have raised the bar with their latest release alongside the ever-ready Plump DJs. This two tracker is jam packed with groovy rhythms and interesting arrangements, kicking off with 'Let's Bounce'. This one is jam packed with grinding reesey sub bass textures and electro drum arrangement, all bubbling up together into a juicy cocktail. On the flip side we have the syncopated sorcery of 'Fired Up' which boasts an innovative use of call and response between vocal slices and acid-like synth design.

Review: Widely regarding as modern breaks royalty, Plump DJ's return to the super consistent punks imprint for a fantastic one off single. This one entitled 'Keep A Focus' drawing influences from early hardcore by way of rolling key stabs and choppy vocal slices. These musical ideas layer up perfectly alongside a collection of punchy break patterns and sub heavy synthesis to create yet another Punks classic single!

Played by: Mr Brainz
Review: You've probably heard this one about, its predecessor was a biggie and the VIP has been well sought after ever since it was the first dropped. Keeping the original vocal, and most of the track true to the original but you can almost feel Hybrid Theory seeping from each and every sound of this VIP. A clappy 4/4 background decorated with space invader style scratches, and to and fro bassline.

Review: Despite all the recent setbacks, London's stronger than ever right now and what better way to prove it than with the totally lit LDN Selection - a sizzling new collection compiled and mixed by the mighty Plump DJs for the Punks label? The set kicks off with the leftfield tropical trap of 1 "jungle" by Mace before embark on an electric journey over the course of 24 more tracks. More highlights include the insane hands-in-the-air stadium ghetto of Stanton Warriors' "Walking" and the crunchy bassline house of "Roll Easy" by Signal:Noize. All tracks are available both individually and woven into a cool one hour DJ mix. Best of both worlds, nuff said.

Fear The Funk
Fear The Funk - (4:38) 126 BPM
Played by: Future Wildstyle
Review: Stanton Warriors like the releases on their Punks label to be punchy and in your face. As a result, they don't often wait around for artists to conjure up a whole EP's-worth of material, preferring instead to fire out short sharp shocks into the world. Here is one such missive, with the notorious Plump DJs dropping the "Fear Of Funk" on our unsuspecting ears, the mother of all bombs as it were. They take no prisoner's either with tough beats, slo-mo bass bounce and ravey synth stabs all fusing to create a cocktail of dancefloor destruction.

Review: Stanton Warriors have been on a mission to bring us the finest broken beat and heavy bass on Punks Music since 2001. Here the debut volume of the their new 'Punks Selection' series is curated by Mafia Kiss and focuses in 'on the deeper/stripped sounding side of the label's roster'. There is a whopping 22 track featured, as well as a one-hour DJ mix. Highlights include the urgent, haunted bounce of "The Oracle" by Leda Stray, the sultry, late night breakbeats of "K2" by Aloka and the scattershot ghetto beats of "Check Me Out" by Sly One.

Review: Veteran DJ duo Plump DJs recently delivered their big room anthem "Yes Yes" to unanimous approval. Now we get to revisit the banger via a new remix by none other than the mighty Hybrid Theory. Although the essence of the original is retained, HT swaps most of the tribal/baile drum rhythms for more of a wobble-heavy 4 x 4 workout. Stripped back and fresh, this anthem's success is now going to last all summer!

Review: Here we have the latest short sharp shock from veteran DJ act Plump DJs. Moving on from the retro electro of their previous missive, Iou One, this time around they are aiming straight for the big rooms, peak time. "Yes Yes" is a big, blunt party anthem, with "Hustler"-era Simian Mobile Disco vocal samples and beefy tribal/baile drum rhythms. Hold on to your hats folks the confetti cannon's gonna blow!

Review: It's been a while since the Plumps served up any treats, so this cheeky one-tracker is a welcome return. Strutting and slapping with a solid thumping 4/4 and infectious bass hook, the duo then take us down hip-house memory lane with a perfectly executed rap that loops with energy over their groove. As we shake deeper into the break, they've also used a timeless spoken word sample and give a cheeky nod to their past with some classic breakbeats.

Plump DJs present Dirty Weekend EP 3
A Hip House Experiment - (4:57) 129 BPM Hot
Rocket Soul - (5:45) 129 BPM
Moby - "After" - (5:02) 130 BPM
Review: The Plumps' wide-eared remit continues as they sweep us off our feet for yet another filthy away game. Three cuts in total, each one ticking a totally different party box. "A Hip House Experiment" is no-nonsense four-to-the-floor bass funk with a cheeky vocal refrain and a bassline so juicy it'll stain a hundred sheets. "Rocket Soul" meanwhile sees the duo revisit a classic from their Headthrash album. Retaining the breakbeat rhythm but adding more complexity to the melody, it's a fine contemporisation. Finally we hit their rather naughty remix of Moby's "After"; switching from swinging breaks to a floor-ploughing 4/4 with a bassline so rude it makes Roy Chubby Brown look like the Queen.

Plump DJs Presents Dirty Weekend EP 2
Mark Ronson - "Record Collection" (Plump DJs remix) - (4:48) 130 BPM Hot
Bonsai Kat - "Bla Bla" (Detboi remix) - (5:32) 130 BPM
Plump DJs - "Gobbstopper" (Blatta & Inesha remix) - (5:56) 130 BPM
Review: The Plumps follow up April's debut Dirty Weekend volume with this tricky trio of upfront bangers. Their own remix of Mark Ronson's "Record Collection" is the most intriguing; proper full-on techno with a screaming acid hook and thunderous 4/4 kick, it's quite the monster... And wildly contrasting to their earlier work. Detboi's remix of Bonsai Kat's "Bla Bla" follows and it's yet another acid-saturated smasher. Those old enough to recall DJ Misjah & Tim's "Access" (ask your mum) should resonate with this. Shucks, anyone with half an ear should resonate with this! Finishing off the uncompromising club-focussed EP is a Blatta & Inesha remix of the Plumps' "Gobstopper"; a lolloping, beats with shades of electro and techno, the Italian outfit have retained the original old school flavoured synth hook and very little else. Floor trembling stuff... Check-in or check the hell out!

Hump Rock
Hump Rock (original mix) - (4:48) 130 BPM Hot
Review: A one-off release from the Plumps, "Hump Rock" sees the electro-breaks duo absolutely destroy Billy Squier's classic "Big Beat" - the sample behind Dizzee Rascal's "Fix Up..." and, only a few decades earlier, Run-DMC's "Live At The Funhouse". "Hump Rock" breathes a gale of life into it though - bit-crushing, looping and generally rinsing it out with some gnarled bass thrown in too. Heavy and very, very fun stuff.
