Review: It can be a tricky task keeping up with Pets Recordings jam-packed release schedule. That's why the imprint's "My Favourite Pets" compilation series, which gathers together brilliant bits from the catalogue you may have missed, is essential listening. Volume six is naturally full to bursting with tried-and-tested treats from Catz 'N' Dogz excellent imprint. Highlights are plentiful throughout, of course, but our favourites include Kassian's exclusive rework of recent Catz 'N' Dogs single "Wave" (a bumpin' chunk of peak-time brilliance), the exotic dancefloor hypnotism of Sei A's fine remix of "This Time" by Adam Port and Jennifer Touch, the low-slung sleaze of Jonathan Kaspar's "Cicatrice", the classic West Coast deep house bump of Beesmunt Soundsystem's "Searchin (Borrowed Identity Remix)" and the mid-tempo Balearic house beauty of Kamp's "Azure".

Offering a blend of warm deepness and disco-flecked fun, they've quickly become one of the most-checked imprints around. This third label compilation offers further proof of their savvy A&R policy. There's much to admire, from the eyes-wide-shut goodness of Ryan Kick and intricate, string-laden muddiness of KINK, to the Candido-biting disco-house fun of Giano & EZO's "Thousand Souls" and Pol_On's uplifting piano jam "Used To Say". Review: Frankfurt-based imprint Connaisseur drop the third annual Grand Cru compilation, bulging with goodies from the deeper end of tech and minimal house. Grand Cru - a term no doubt already known to the wine drinkers among you - refers to an elegant bottle or vineyard. And 2010 is proving to be a fine vintage; from the glitchy beat and ethereal vocals on Tom Demac's "Sky Swatches", to the meandering bassline of Franklin De Costa's "Futureboy" and "Jericho Horns" by label stalwart Afrilounge, which sounds like a wonderfully dirty afterhours version of Jesse Rose's "Touch My Horn". And be sure to check out "Black Martin", a rare foray into house music for drum & bass producer Dee Pulse.
