Review: While Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu have also contributed to the series, the majority of Bondage Music's 'Deep Value' compilations have been curated by label founder Pornbugs. He's back at the helm on volume seven, a 17-track trawl through the label's back catalogue bundled with a mixed version created by the artist himself. In keeping with the label's output, what's on offer is a great selection of unmixed, DJ-friendly deep tech-house excursions full to bursting with tactile grooves, warming basslines, hypnotic beats and dreamy early morning motifs. Highlights include (but are in no way limited to) the rubbery excellence of 'Quantum' by Frink, the yearning, sunrise-ready shimmer of 'No Fly Zone' by Sarap Ozaydin, and the trippy, sub-heavy brilliance of Arkady Antsyrev's 'Spin'.
Review: Leipzig duo Sven & Sven aka Pornbugs usually release their brand of tech house via their beloved Bondage Records, but appear outside of their comfort zone for a new release this week on Switzerland's klaus:elle. The result is the slinky and hypnotic groove of "Worlds Collide", backed by Ross Kiser's re-rub which firmly keeps the track in the realm of late night mood music. Elsewhere, more sensual afterhours delights away you "Griselda" which also gets reworked, this time by Juli Lee - who injects the track with a bit more dancefloor dynamics.
Review: Buoyed by a recent outing on Brise Records, Pornbugs return to Bondage Music, the label they launched way back in 2006. There are two original productions to savour: lead cut 'Juvania', a hypnotic early morning workout in the Berlin tech-house style rich in deep sub-bass, hushed riffed, subtle percussion builds, drifting melodic motifs and echoing vocal snippets, and the more forthright, mind-altering throb of 'Mudita'. Pornbugs' original mix, which makes great use of fluid electronic motifs and druggy bass, is reworked by Alexander Matchak, who opts for a sparser, stripped-back, funk-fuelled tech-house sound. It's an excellent remix all told and a fabulous alternative take.
Review: Those Pornbugs are at it again! Back on their beloved Bondage Music, this one sees the two Svens take you on a tour through slinky and hypnotic late night vibes on the emotive "Bodhi". As a bonus, the Leipzig-based pair have tapped Dave Pad (Forestrip) on remix duties, who delivers some dubby tech house on the deeper tip that's not too dissimilar to his acclaimed work of late on Nite Grooves and Highway.
Review: Bondage Recordings chiefs Pornbugs return on their beloved imprint with more surefire tech house for the main room on these two fine cuts. First up we have the deep and sensual bounce of "Fiducia" taking in a dub laden vibe as always, followed by the warm up mood music of "Unas Gotas" which receives a tremendous rework by Dutch dub techno hero Roger Gerressen (Irenic) - taking the track into typically cavernous and glacial realms with added dancefloor dynamics.
Review: Leipzig's Bondage Music returns with a massive compilation featuring 20 tracks, all in the label's distinct style of deep and sensual tech house. If that was not enough, the label bosses Sven & Sven aka Pornbugs deliver a continous mix, working those selections to perfection on each of their journeys. Highlights are not limited to: Mihai Popoviciu and NTFO delivering some rolling and hypnotic 'Rominimal' vibes on "Gazoo" and "Key Part" respectively, London's James Dexter delivering a typically emotive afterhours minimal groove on "Come In" while Pornbugs themselves serve up the slinky "Precocious Life" before the return of Swiss scene stalwart Dachshund on "Instant".
