Review: As underground venues and spaces struggle to overcome the financial pressures exacted by coronavirus, many artists are responding to support them. In_vurt is a case in point; issued on Cassegrain's label, it sees a multitude of techno producers who have played at Vurt contribute tracks, with the proceeds of sales helping the Seoul venue. It's an impressive, 28-track collection, and features some of underground techno's most respected artists, including Answer Code Request, who drops the dreamy, breakbeat-led "No Comply 180", Artefakt's dubbed out tunnelling "Solstice" and the shimmering rhythms on BNJMN's "Overstated". These sit alongside more experimental tracks like Cio D'Or's glitchy "Permanent Key" and the droning, expansive "Further Movements Into Unknown Territories" from Peter Van Hoesen.

Review: Oscar Mulero's Polegroup label closes the year with a mammoth compilation that defines the current state of the techno nation. As Unknown Landscapes shows, it is a diverse place. There's droning ambience from Daphne RXX, while Reeko, Reggy Van Oers and Mike Parker deliver bleep-heavy, hypnotic groove that draw on the influence of F.U.S.E and Sandwell District. Heads-down loopy fare is also catered for - with the spiky percussion and bleak filters of Jonas Koop's "Fu Factor" standing out - and the form also revisits the rough, analogue sound of the 90s thanks to Karl Bult and American scene veteran DJ Hyperactive's contributions.

No Need For Narration - (3:07) 120 BPM
Played by: Paul Mac
Review: As Our Circular Sound is Sigha's label, you'd be forgiven for thinking the man himself would facilitate the first long player on the platform. However recent times have found James Shaw using the label as an outlet for emergent talent, ushering in works from Arcing Seas and Positive Centre to complement the more established contributions of Truss, Shifted and Sigha himself. It's Mike Jefford's Positive Centre project that takes the honour of the first album project on the label with In Silent Series consisting of nine new productions from the producer. If you've indulged in previous Positive Centre material you'll immediately warm to the delicate and glacial exploration of sound reproduction and audio collage.
