Review: It's always exciting to see a new drop on the awesome Bomb Strikes imprint, a label that has helped push breakbeat music as far as it can go over the last few years, constantly unloading top quality creations. This time around, Prosper and Stabfinger join forces, firstly with the assistance of Too Many T's on 'Doin' The Conga', a vibrant crunch through gnarly synthesis and catchy singalong vocal displays. Next, Awoke touches down for a guest appearance on 'Check The Status', a slowly creeping trek through murky drums and moody subs, with the instrumental edition of 'Doin' The Conga' then arriving to close off this well thought out collection in style.
Review: It's been well over a year since Breakbeat Paradise last compiled a 'best of' collection. Since then they've delivered countless party bombs from some of the very best in game. In case you missed any, this is the perfect time to get up to speed. Highlights include Kool Hertz En Vogue homage "Whatta Joint", Morlack's p-funk party attack "Funkafize Me" and Prosper's slinky, sultry bass stalker "Slutty Snoop". Label compilations don't get much more satisfying that this - if you missed any Breakbeat Paradise releases recently then get up to speed right now!
Review: London nu-funk imprint Boogie Boutique come correct once again on the Shake It Out EP which pairs up French producer Prosper with a number of collaborators. The title track has Prosper going toe to toe with Knaresborough's finest Rory Hoy on a funk heavy cut n paste production blessed with the J-Live style delivery of Imagine This - German trio Funkanomics handle remix duties and turn in one of their trademark electrified productions that still makes ample usage of Imagine This' delivery. Following this, the superbly titled Old Skool Nemo proves his studio worth alongside Prosper on the boogie number "Get That Boogie Thing" whose speed of sound is matched by swiftness of vocal delivery from JC001 and the man Ashley Slater. Nick Fonkynson drops a remix that begs for a big beat revolution.
Review: Flip the switch and get with the program: evergreen party purveyors Breakbeat Paradise have commissioned a whole bunch of reversions and each one is an instant booty-buster. Highlights abound throughout this raucous bass-bizzled nu-funk adventure but only a twit wouldn't pack Badboe's rub of Kool Hertz En Vouge sampling sizzle-up "Whatta Joint", JiggyJoe's orchestral disco-strung halfstepper rub of Calagad 13's "Back To The Power" or Badboe's take on Rudd's Supremes-slicing "Shake It Out". Paradise found.
Review: Fresh from remixing Gary Glitter (no, really), the lovably unpredictable Prosper delivers his debut long player... And it's a must for all funk, breaks and hip-hop freaks. Laced with some fast-flowing continental MC work from the likes of Azaxx & Phoebus and Wapi Wap, it's a fantastic showcase of French funk talent as we whistle and wheeze our way through the myriad styles. Highlights come in many shapes and sizes but be sure to check out the Modeselektor style "En Dessus De Tout", the slippery glitches of "Slutty Snoop" and the deep, rumbling grooves of "Meet The Weird Cowboys". And that's just three of 16 tracks! A fine debut album...
Review: Coming together once again after stonking funky breaks singles such as "Todos Es Nuevo" and "T-Rex Booty", French producer (and Badboe cohort) Prosper teams up with prodigious Brit producer Rory Hoy for the low-slung G-funk of "Have You Heard Of This". With a tightly-looped "funky worm" sample recalling the heyday of west coast '90s hip-hop, Zhygiz lays done some punchy rhymes over a sampled, roughed-up break on the title tune, while another newie "Rookie Dance" moves up into disco tempo and fuses twangy bass leads and Latin percussion with a fun, pitched-up vocal from Digicay.
Review: The latest in Bomb Strikes' series of party-smashing bootlegs and breaks sees Denmark's Badboe chop it up with France's Prosper over these two new cuts. The Fatback Band's "Gotta Learn How To Dance" acts as the basis for "Too Hot To Handle", with some hyped bass added to the funk as well as acapella cuts from Method Man amongst others. "Rock The Beat" sees the duo going for a full-on soulful vocal treatment, complete with some energetic filtering, while Mooqee and Beatvandals's accompanying remix throws on some Jackson 5 magic into the mix too.
