Review: The Garage Shared crew have always done a fantastic job of cultivating and pushing new UKG talent forward, with their continuously running 'Class Of' series doing a great job of showcasing that energy. This year it's another jam-packed event, welcoming 16 fiery new originals to the table, with the likes of BVNQUET, Soulecta, Clarcq, Purple Velvet Curtains and more all joining the party with a fabulous array of original UKG flavour. Despite so many established faces making this year's pickings, it's the newcomers that impress us the most, with Bill Bond's 'Nobody Like You' original providing it us with a quirky tap through new school garage fusion and Ashdun's 'Plasticine' original injecting a real sense of youth into the project. Another prime box of originality from all involved!

With a track list that features top names such as DJ Jackum, Clarcq, Purple Velvet Curtains, Soulecta, Gemi, Tuff Culture and more, this is a garage DJ's dream supply pack, with the sounds ranging from rampant 4x4 to wiley 2-step originals. As far as compilations go, this is a great example of how to balance the old with the new, with the GS Dubs mantra being to constantly push both types of talent forward with the same energy and expectation, making them a truly wonderful imprint.

Review: Born and raised in Croydon but now residing in the musical hotbed of Brighton, Purple Velvet Curtains is becoming a strong force in the underground house bass scene. PVC manages to intertwine sounds that pull from house, garage, hip hop and jazz. PVC is sure pushing boundaries. Starting off with the deep and dusty jack of "Get Dirty" filled with some analogue blips and blurbs galore, then be prepared for seriously wonky bassline house on the explosive "Bounce"where he's joined by Tuff Culture. Finally "Side Chick" goes for stadium sized EDM crossing over into dubstep with its Skrillex style bassline: absolutely massive!

Review: As a label, Crucast have gone from strength to strength, rapidly establishing themselves as one of the premiere platforms for bass music in the UK. This complication marks that out perfectly with an astonishing selection of over 30 original creations, featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Jaguar Skills, Brent Kilner, Pavv, TC4, Inkline, Deadbeat UK and a tonne more. For us the EP highlights the strength in the current UK bass scene, with favourites being Bushbaby & Hadean's long-awaited collaboration release 'Clean Up', the monstrous swinging synths of Tengu's 'Weapon' and of course the wonky wonderings of SaidWho's 'Voices', a truly original compositional idea, focussing on rawcus bass sounds and scattered drum selections.

Review: PVC on Punks: we're playing with many shades of cool right here. Firstly the classically minded arpeggios and shuffled garage beats of "Marilyn" with added vocals charming their way over the top with a fine balance of hooky sensibility and smokiness. "Don't Stop" takes us even deeper down the house route with a quirky, jittered jack, salubrious slap bass and spliced, diced vocal details. Punks have been consistently killing it for years and this is one of their most distinctive and unique releases this year
