Review: Johan Cederberg, or otherwise known as HNNY (and strictly pronounced "honey"!), is Sweden's new house don and he's been at the forefront of Local Talk's impressive run of form as of late. For this latest release, Local Talk has put together nine edits by the man himself, all loosely based around the old-school Chicago house sound. You got slick, modernised edits of none other than Dj Steak, DJ Duke, Purple Velvet and Lee Webster, among others. In a nutshell, this is simply a bundle of great dance floor tracks, effective as either DJ tools or as stand-alone songs. Large up!

Review: Label boss Shir Khan describes Secret Gold as a "mini compilation series", with each release showcasing previously unheard cuts from the extended Exploited family. This second EP expands on the three-track formula of the first, offering five solid saunters into the worlds of house and techno. There's a chunk of revivalist rave-era house fuzziness from Jesse Perez (the sturdy "Mama Me la"), a formidably bass-heavy tech-boompty take on Claptone's "Maximum" from Joyce Muniz and some delicious synth futurism-meets-deep house from Purple Velvet. Oh, and some siren-laden midtempo "Bounce" from the fast-rising Jack Fell Down.

Review: This year, Chicago's Large Records will hit 200 releases - a remarkable achievement in anyone's book, and testament to the label's epic, 22-year journey. Here they kick off 2015 by welcoming back Secret Reels regulars Purple Velvet. As you might expect from both label and artist, Marble Zone oozes class, with the title track coming on like the deep house equivalent of dancing barefoot on a rug while someone massages your head with scented oils. There's a chunkier alternative in the shape of the superb Vocal Dub version of the same track - think heavy sub, trippy riffs, bouncing beats and filter-clad pianos - while "Drawn Out" sounds like the sort of winding, sun-kissed gear that should be blasting out of terrace bars and clubs come the summer.

Review: Purple Velvet is Chris James and Lee Dearn, two purveyors of deep and sensuous house music since forming in late 2011. Having gotten to know each other at various late night music sessions, the pair have increasingly honed their own house sound that's as suited to the dark confines of a club as it is the sunnier vibes of an outdoor terrace.

Review: Having most recently plied their trade on Local Talk, deep house duo Purple Velvet (AKA British producers Chris James and Lee Dearn) return to their original home, Exploited, for a four-track foray into deep, powdery, late night territory. While "Solstice" is nowhere near as pagan as you'd hope for, its combination of woozy chords, shuffling grooves and sweet electronic melodies sounds like it was designed for dancing to at dusk. Both "Artform" and the similarly bleep-heavy "Drift" are so effortlessly breezy, it's almost impossible to dislike. Bristol-based misfits Behling & Simpson predictably steal the show with their version of "Solstice", which impresses with its hissing combination of jazz-flecked, old skool house drums and bubbling low end.

Review: Following a low-key debut on Exploited last year, Chris James and Lee Dearn bring their Purple Velvet project to Local Talk. "Sparks Fly" kicks things off, delivering an undeniably hazy, woozy and slightly fuzzy slab of atmospheric deep house built around a titanium-clad groove, darting melodies and fizzing synths. "Back on the Boulevard" is, if anything, even deeper, utilizing cut-up saxophones, wide-eyed chords and chunky beats to recall the classic jazziness of St Germain's impeccable Boulevard LP. Closer "Breathin", meanwhile, offers more calming jazziness, this time via baggy beats and twinkling vibraphone solos. Local Talk doesn't always get it right, but this is pretty tasty.

Review: Purple Velvet is a collaboration between Coat of Arms man Chris James, and pal Lee Dearn. Here they make their debut on Dirt Crew Recordings with a particularly sensual slither of starlight deep house. "Death of the Warehouse" is built around some suitably Balearic pads and bubbling synth melodies, and underpinned by a clicky but forthright groove. Waifs & Strays take the best bits of the original and lace them over a chunky low-end house groove on their admirable remix, while Bohemian Groove give it a snappy, post-Chicago house feel. There's also a solid bonus cut in the shape of "Found You", a kind of "Pacific 202" for the Julio Bashmore generation.
